We are just hours away from the biggest and most prestige filled tournament in the poker world, the World Series of Poker Main Event! Most of the big names in poker are going to take part this year and we can expect a huge prize pool since the 2011 WSOP has seen many record fields. The Main Event is a 13-day event with 4 starting days.

The final table, where usually all players are guaranteed at least a million dollar each, will be played in November - just like it has been since 2008 when Peter Eastgate broke Phil Hellmuth's 19-year-old record of being the youngest player to win the Main Event.

We will keep you updated on the Main Event action from start to finish!

Eastgate won it with 19 years old? I have a portuguese friend who won a $2k WSOP entry playing online poker three years ago and the room told him he wouldn't be able to get the entry because he didn't had the minimum age requirement to play poker in USA, which is 21 years old...

hope the trend of high participation continues in the main event too
and lets see if any of the big players make the final table. daniel had too much of bad luck maybe he'll do good in final event.

Well, main event has 4 starting days so it's very possible, that there will be more players than last year and maybe even there will be a new ME record Blink I really don't know who can win it - everyody can! A lot of great players will play in ME, it's just awesome tournament Smile I only hope that FT & the winner will be the best player in that even, not some toolbox xD

Nearly 900 players at Day1a. So there will be no new record unless the amount of players on the other starting days is MUCH higher.

It's nice to see there is so much interest in the world series of poker main event, i mean it always attracted many players actually but given the current circumstances, i mean that us players can't play on pokerstars on ftp, it was a possibilty for the participation to be less, but it seems people are still interested in poker and live events Big Smile

And yes, lets hope that some top players will end in the top eventually, Daniel Negreanu it's just one of them, but i would also want to se more from tom dwan and phil hellmuth actually, maybe it's time for anoter bracelet or him too Smile

All 4 Day 1s are in the book. A total of 6865 players at this years main event. This is the 3rd largest nummer ever. 1st price will be a bit over $8.7 million. Shock
