Today it's finally time for the first day of PokerStars EPT London. The stop in London is one of the most prestigious stops on the European Poker Tour... and, as always, lots of big names will take part. Just to mention a few: Doyle Brunson, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, Joe Cada and Boris Becker.
Apart from the main event, which will be played until Thursday next week, a High Roller event with £20,000 buy-in will be something to look forward to. We will keep you updated with the most interesting news on both the main event and the high roller event. Stay tuned!

I never get it very well why do na high stakes player like Blom enters in a tourney like this. It can mean more prestige, more fame, just another experience without thinking of winning, or something that makes part of his sponsor agreement. This is obviously not his “playground”, and if he wins the first prize, i am almost sure he have made more than that in a couple of hands with some other high stakes player. What can he tries to prove by entering EPT?

I think Isildur1 will bust pretty fast, he is not a tournament player, especially a live tournament, he is obvoius a cash games player...
On the other hand Doyle Brunson is one of them and from what i see he really has good chances to get this title
If Erik Seidel was one of the players registered my money were on him

I totally agree with pochui, but its still poker, you only need a chip and a chair. It's not like they cant play poker maybe except for Boris.

Just as an update day 1a is over for doyle brunson, he is still in the game but his actual stack is a bit under the average chip stack...
Still in this period of the game this means nothing really, we need to wait a bit more to see how things will go.
But yes, it would be really nice to see Doyle get this EPT

Doyle is good, but imo he won't win anything now - and that's sad I'd like him to win, but I think he is behind others. He was very good in his times, but now that changed a bit.
As for Isildur I'm sure he will win a big tournament, but he plays something we call "high variance poker" - loose and aggresive. It's good, but imo for online poker, when you can play hundreds or thounsads of MTTs per month and with that kind of style you'll show good profit, but during live events you'll need years to play that amout of tourneys.
Also Isildur bluffs too much in those tourneys from what I've seen. He is used to play HU and there his bluffs are awesome, but on FR table during MTT it's different.

*CO-SIGN* everything you wrote . . . it's still fun to watch Doyle play as he is obviously a pioneer of the game, and Izzy is the poster-boy for the new generation of (online) poker juggernauts.

It must be hard for Isildur to play so few hands per hour in a live tournament like wsop or ept event...
I mean when you are used to play hundreds of hands per hour it's hard to slow down so much for a live event.
Plus you need to take into consideration that he really is a cash game player, not mtt...

Definitely . . . that's why he is able to build a big stack with sick play, but eventually loses patience and donks away his stack with the most absurd bluffs . . . regardless of his skilled bet-sizing he usually ends up reppin' the hand his opponent has! lmao

around the time isildur1 was outed,Viktor Blom was in a televised tourney, busted in the first couple of hands betting all in with K-5 os,there's no way he can win any tournament, cash games Omaha is his thing, and Doyle cant accept that pokers moved on from his time as a major player...although 10-2 os is a great online hand if your Russian....
