Gus Hansen on his way to Macau

Posted on 04 January 2012 by "T".

After a few weeks of silence, the Danish poker pro Gus Hansen once again updated his blog with some pretty interesting news. Hansen writes, for example, that he has arrived in Hong Kong and that he and a Danish friend will go to Macau and check whether or not the rumored high stakes games are as crazy as some people claim they are.

In Macau, Hansen hopes to meet some of his old buddies from Full Tilt Poker - Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey etc. But he still isn't sure if he will take part in the games were some players bring millions of dollars.

Below is Gus Hansen's latest blog in its full version:

"Arrived in Hong Kong after a 15 hour flight and my friend Mr. Gwinner is picking me up at Hong Kong Central station. One day here in Hong Kong and then off to Macau with my Friend Buster arriving from Denmark tomorrow. The more I think about it the less chance there is I will be playing in some million dollar buy-in No Limit Hold Em game in Macau - but maybe once I get there the good old bug called ‘Degenerate Gambling' will get a hold of me and make me change my mind.

I am also wondering whether I will be bumping in to some former Full Tilt Pro's? Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey and Tom ‘Durrrr' Dwan to name a few that has been seen in the vicinity of Macau high stakes poker games.
We will see what tomorrow brings."

I'm sure even if Gus doesn't play some of the nosebleeds, he'll get in on some NLH200/500/1000 action . . . but I expect peer pressure to provoke the Great Dane to at least "sample" some of the highest limits they have running.

It was about time for the great Dane to check ut the big Macau cash games and take advantage of the unexperienced rich players from there...

Can't wait to hear more about him!

attack of the pros! there is a less chance of Gus playing with his former full tilt pros i guess, unless there is a big number of macau high stake players playing on that table..

oh yeah, i probably will follow gus to macau- gonna check the nosebleed games as well, not sure if i'm gonna play, it depends solely of the babes around the table (and absolutely not with the fact that i have only $100 in my pocket)- keep your chin up gus, i'm coming to support you

Its cool to watch these guys/pros do it in the high stakes

i think Gus is the best pokerplayr there is.i wonder what they think when they sit and play with so high stakes.......
 Funope04/01/2012 21:11:21 GMT
I hope for him to kill the tables over there and the question about playing isn't a real question.

All this guys are completely nuts. Look at this lifes! Going to Macau expecting to find friends from the “hometown job” and keep enjoying this trip with them. We all heard rumors about the extraordinary amounts this games involve in Macau, but they all end up being classified just as rumors, with no one to confirm if they are real. Maybe Gus can be telling us a little more in a few days. Hope he wins big, I like the way he plays.

macau has become more prominent in the poker scene in recent past because of wealthy gamblers there, so no doubt pros want to get some action there.

Always great to watch Gus Hansen play, but man that's a lot of cash to play the High Stake games. It's not that Guis don't have the capability to win in these games, but I think he'd rather use someone else's $$ to play in them. So like KoldShadow stated, he'll probably start out at the 200/300/500 level and see how it goes. If he wins enough to get in the big boy poker games he'll be playing, butr like I said, with someone else's $$,

I must discribe 'unexperienced'. Today Highstakes is more money presure then skils...sooo
if you are rich probability to win is 50/50.

I agree with SUpernoob's post, may rich players form there are just gamblers so they are pretty hard to play with...

All these pro are looking for rich fish, not rich gamblers...

I hope they will let Gus play the high stakes tables, because he is one of the best cash game poker players, he was topscorer on full tilt.

I really admire Gus Hansen, in my opinion one of the most complete players I've ever seen in my life, it really seems like it will be interesting with such high stakes player quality.
