WPT Ireland: 338 players signed up for the Main Event

Yesterday, the World Poker Tour Ireland Main Event kicked off with 338 players. At the end of the day (after 9 levels of play), 195 had chips left and they now get a few hours of rest before it's time to return to the tables again.

Dave Callaghan (picture), a local poker player, is the chip leader with 186,900 chips. It will be interesting to see whether Callaghan has what it takes to become the second local in a very short time to win the main event (referring to the 2011 WPT Venice Main Event that a local boy took home). Well, there is long way to go and still many good players will plenty of chips, so we will just have to wait and see what happens.

hell yeah world poker tour is still alive- just wondering are there to many poker tours, when you look at their schedule very often you have to pick where to go- and make a painful decision to dump one tour in favor of other, not a happy thing to do...

I believe there will still be a lot of moves in the first places before WPT Ireland Main Event knows who will sit in the final table. My experience in casino tourneys isn’t big, but, for example, the online tourneys that run better for me are those where I always keep around the middle of the ranking till I get to the final table. Then, only there I think about the real attack! There sure will be many in WPT thinking this way, and with a lot of motives to send Dave Callaghan home soon.

Thats a pretty solid participation if you ask me considering Ireland has a bad economy right now...

Still it would be interesting to see who will take this considering the prize pool is pretty consitent.

Glad that they finaly came to Ireland but a little too small the first prise. But I think is ok considering the small number of runners .
