PokerStars buys Full Tilt Poker? |

 According to numerous sources, PokerStars has reached a settlement with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to buy Full Tilt Poker and settle its outstanding legal matters. No official statements have been made by either sites so far, but according to Alex Dreyfus, CEO of Chili Gaming, PokerStars has paid $750 million to acquire Full Tilt and settle its outstanding legal issues with the DOJ - $330 million will go to repay Full Tilt account holders.
These news, if they are true, come as a big surprise since the French investment group Group Bernard Tapie were known to be the buyers of Full Tilt Poker until now. And there has been lots of news in the past few weeks indiciating that the deal was as good as done. Now, however, it seems like new owners might be PokerStars, the world's largest poker site.

I think this is just a bullshit story TBH. It seems like this all started from a 2+2 forum post, and it's gone viral from there.
From a logical standpoint, it doesn't really make much sense, given what's happened with GBT and FT as of late:
- Servers Being tested
- GBT Opening Parent companies
- Pocket Kings Hiring Customer service repts
To me, it just seems like the retard that made the post on 2+2 and started this all is just attention whoring. I mean it was their first post ever, so that should resonate pretty clearly his credibility.

| A post on their website confirms that they are in negotiations with the department of justice. They refuse to say more at this point.

GREAT ,( insert vomiting face thingy here ), now we get to see more of Daniel Negreanu !!
When I played online I did play at FT but have always hated PS. Hate DN even more. Just my thoughts but now I will never play at the new FT.
Because of 'Daniel Negreanu" I think we need a vomit 'facey" thing in the 'Insert smiley' thing from below.

2nd the crazy shit! Did not see that coming, makes sense though, why not buy out your biggest competitor if you can get them at a discount, and seeing as FT's not even running, I'm sure they're selling at a very hefty discount. Also seeing as PS has already been approved to run, they can use their cred to re-establish the FT brand in the DOJ's eyes.
Why the hate on DN Dlkiv? I'm not a fan or anything, just curious.

We all know that Stars has overwhelming funding ability. They surely can afford to pay 750M. But they will reduce promotions and rakeback.

dont think so Jess pokerstars freaking out just now i think the amount of players they have on the site. What i was thinking was they could just shut the site then all the money owed to players from tilt refund it on pokerstars. I cant see this happening all the same as people just love the cartoon tables and if they did it leaves it open for someone else to go the cartoon look.
It is a great thing for the fulltilt fans all the same because they know there money will be safe most likely, Im sure the people with lots of money tied up there will be happy because they know they will get there money now

Hi, The only thing i wonder why so much hate on Negreanu? he is a great player and definitely one of best players Canada's got in poker. and he is fun to watch. Negreanu belongs to my favorite players but i do have a long list of entertaining players to watch for me, and i respect all of them. You could just start respecting them aswell. But i guess hating on Negreanu in one thread and one post is not a big deal 
Now to the thread.. if all of this is true, then its good and bad news in one. Yea thats right people will get their money back very very likely. that is a great + +++++++++++ many players been waiting for i guess.
The bad part about it : Not so good promotions,rake back, vip program. And PokerStars will dominate both Online & Offline poker scene. There won't be anyone who can take a step to compete vs PokerStars... its just impossible right now.

Well from what I've heard, they'd maintain them as seperate sites, at least for the time being.
I think what would make the most logical sense is for them to either fully assimilate FT's software, and merge their player base like you suggested.
I don't know how I feel about the buyout thought. I think they definitely would do away with rakeback for FT players, which I'd be totally against. Sure their VIP system is okay, but it's a farcry from 27% rakeback :S
Everyone knows the real value in the VIP system @ stars is only really seen by high stakes/volume players, such as Supernova.

i dont think its true.
for months now we'v been hearing about gbt. and now last minute after testing, hiring and license applying we hear that its not gbt but stars who are buying ftp?
i hope its not true because im not a fan of stars and they will put their stamp on ftp and spoil it.

This is true - and I think regardless of how they play it - it's pretty unlikely they would keep FTP 27%.

If Pokerstars buy FTP we will see a lot of changes in the classic FTP reward system (iron man, black card, rakeback). And we can say bye to the system FTPs dealt (hi contributed, as rake).
If pokerstars buy FTP we can say bye to the classic no deposit promotions we love. And say hi to reload bonuses.

I am not a fan of DN because I have met him during live play. I did not play against him but he was playing at a special tourney at same casino as me. We happened to be at the bar getting drinks when he came in and to tell the truth he is a jerk to many,( seen this), and was insulted that I did not want his autograph. I mean really why would I ? Hi style of play ,I am not a fan of or anything else about him . I have never been someone who has ever wanted an autograph from anyone,( managed a huge very well known nite club in Toronto and had many celebs in there and never once asked for an autograph from any). Seeing how he was to some who had no clue who he was,( and did not care when they found out), just turned me off. That is why I am not a fan of him, and as I said his style of play never amazed me or gave me any respect for him. Those are just my thoughts and opinions.

Nah dear he was not kidding. He was not happy that not everyone knew who he was and those that did really had no interest in him. I personally had no interest in him, and really have never been in awe of any celebrity, but that is just me

| Everyone’s talking about FTP and having the chance of playing there again. The most impaired with this situation would be Pokerstars, the biggest online poker company in the world, who would have again a big objector in it’s market. So what is the best way to eliminate this threat? Terminating it, buying it, now, even if they decide to keep it separate from Stars and with other promos, it will be money coming from two sides to the same pockets. Seems good to me, just don’t know if they will keep it separate or if they will regroup everything – this must be more like it.

| I agree with you Fakiry. Pokerstars do the best for himself. No other site will use FTP soft and no other group will buy and relaunch FTP, removing a part of the business.

Ha ha, so Daniel is a bit of a deuche in real life eh? Heh heh, can't say I'm surprised, money and fame often does that to a person. Autographs are a funny thing too, I can't believe people often charge money just to give them.
