Ever wondered what the most successful surname in tournament poker is? Speculate no more! An American poker news site, together with Hendon Mob (a statistical database), have checked which surnames have won the most money in international poker tournaments and created a list of the top 100 surnames, the number of players, and the total amount won.
The most successful surname is, believe it or not, Nguyen (724 players) and they have won $58,486,178 together. The Nguyen's can thank Scotty (left) and Men "The Master" (right) for that as they have won about $22 million together - about 1/3 of the total winnings.
The only more common surname in Hendon Mob's database than Nguyen is Smith. There are 838 players with that surname and they have won $32,665,771 together (3rd on the list). But who said you need a lot of players with the same surname to score high? Thanks to the win of The Big One for One Drop at the 2012 WSOP ($1,000,000 buy-in), Antonio Esfandiari is in 4th place, all by himself, with amazing $23,245,828.
