Today Sweden's biggest newspaper Aftonbladet wrote that some of Sweden's most well-known poker players have fallen victim to blackmailing and robbery. For example: one of the players was forced to hand over 224,000 sek (about 27,000 Euro) in cash at Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg, Sweden, after being threatened with a gun to his head in his own home.
The person behind the crimes is 23-year-old man who has threatened 7-8 poker players and committed about 20 crimes. He was arrested in absentia in the beginning of July this year, but it took until Thursday last week before the police tracked him down and brought him to justice.
The prosecutor wants the man charged for several crimes committed in Gothenburg and its surrounding areas, including:
- 4 blackmailing cases between June and December 2011.
- 1 robbery in December, 2011
- 1 aggravated robbery or aggravated extortion in June, 2012.
According to an anonymous person with good insight in the case, there is plenty of proof against the man and he's now facing many years behind bars.
