The First Operators in the U.S. Have Received Licenses for Real-Money Online Poker

Tags: licenses, Nevada Gaming Commission, online gaming.

Last Thursday, South Point Poker LLC was approved by Nevada Gaming Commission and became first U.S. casino operator to be licensed to operate a real-money poker website. So what makes this inaugural member so special? South Point Poker LLC is not only a developer of its own online poker gaming software, it also currently holds licenses as an interactive gaming manufacturer and as a a service provider. The site is expecting to have real-money games available in mid-October this year.

South Point Poker wasn't the only one to receive a license last Thursday. Reno's Monarch Interactive Inc received an operators license, and Global Cash Access Inc received a license to provide online payment services. According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, another 30+ companies are now waiting for their license applications in the state of Nevada.

Very interesting.

I think that's a move of confidence for poker players that U.S. based poker is available instead of some shit that operates out of Gibraltar or someshit.

Might set a trend.

Sounds like good news for US players.
Hopefully this will be the first step in allowing US players to be back playing online poker on their site of choice.
I keep my fingers crossed.

Great to hear, finally US players can play again online poker withoput the fear that someday they accounts could be banned...

I also think that after how good PS dealt with DOJ, i think they would also apply for a license for Stars/FTP Smile

I played at similar site. Not nice, cause I got the prize as a gift card ( visa debit card ). And I couldn't use it at shop or merchant Sad.For internet use, just paypal a long as I know and could't use to deposit at gaming site. That site just nice for US citizen.

I really suspect those wanting US players to be allowed to play on PS will be disappointed. PS have blatantly ignored and in fact broken the laws on online gaming consistently. It wasn't until the DOJ took the most extreme measures that they stopped taking US players.

I really believe that PS will never be granted a license in the US, simply because they've done too much to upset the DOJ in the past.

Well regarding Pokerstars and US players, only future will tell us. But in the end they paid all players and settled the deal regarding FullTilt with the DOJ, so maybe this will help.
