ESET Security Research Lab has discovered a Trojan horse that is programmed to steal your login details for Facebook and check for credit card details stored in Facebook applications.According to ESET, the Trojan (The PokerAgent Botnet) attacks those who play poker on the Zynga Poker application on Facebook. The social game has over 38 million users worldwide today and ESET claims that over 16,000 users have had their credentials stolen.

How to protect yourself from Trojan Horses
The PokerAgent Botnet is spreading very quickly, but so far it's mainly users in Israel who have had their login details stolen. The best way to protect yourself against this and other Trojans is to be careful storing credit card details in Facebook applications and to make sure that you have an up-to-date security software installed on your computer. Also, always be careful what you click on, within Facebook. Not everything might be from your friends, even if it looks like it. Click on the wrong thing and you'll never know what kind of malware will end up on your computer.

Ooo... it's very important news! That's why I'm secured by some independent programs - antivirus, anti-malware, cleaner... and of course - the best protections is frequently change password! And don't remember - create strong password and non-dictionary - it makes it stronger!

Haha - it's not about Zynga. Zynga is a big company, who sure know, how to secure their programms, etc.
But this is FB problem - people don't pay attention what they do there... I saw many times, that people accept APPS without read what this APP do...

16 thousand out of 38 million can seem a small number, but think about the profit that bandits may have made my moving on so many bank acounts... I just hope Zynga can somehow solve the problem, so that one day i can think about going there to try to get some bucks from the fish... but in an honest way, only using the software!

It wouldn't be their problem too solve, I'm afraid. It would be somebody making a dodgy app and people are sharing it and letting it access their computer, but it wouldn't be affiliated with actual Zynga of course, so it's not their problem to fix, doubt they could fix it anyway, the game games, not anti-malware!

dont think i would ever feel the need to put my card details into a facebook app.
why people pay for imaginary stuff is beyond me.

Yeah I see where you're coming from. But if you consider that A) Someone doesn't want to gamble and B) enjoys poker. Then you just get another person paying for a video game they enjoy playing, I honestly understand it. Particularly if it's somebody who has had a gambling problem in the past, so they enjoy the gambling game, but don't want to risk a gambling habit. Each to their own really.

That said, there's plenty of ways to play for free with play money, so not a whole lot of point in paying to play free poker.. But I suppose there's exceptions (in terms of what you may be able to get out of the game by investing a few $ vs playing for free).

I also saw tons of articles that said informatic crime lately target online gambling networks.

The "prize" is not as big as on attacks on banks, cards but it's a lot more easier to stole the accounts. Mt advice would be for all to opt for as many security options as possible like pin security or even token!
