On Monday, the first starting day of World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star (San Jose, California) kicked off with 270 players. The field included some of the biggest stars in the game of poker, however, only 109 made it through the day and, unfortunately, many big names hit the rail: Phil Hellmuth (picture), Daniel Negreanu, Michael Mizrachi, Scotty Nguyen, Jason Mercier, Vanessa Selbst (to mention a few).
The chip leader at the end of the day was Andrew Lichtenberger, who played very good during the last level of the day and grow his stack to 341,00 before tournament crew called it a day. Other big names who made it though the day were, just to mention a few, Faraz Jaka (177,300), Antonio Esfandiari (119,200), Erik Seidel (85,000), Mike Sexton (50,200) and Noah Schwartz (37,700).
Day 1B begins at 11 a.m. PT today and a greater field of players is expected to show up. Check back tomorrow for another update!
