Dean Hutchison is the champion of the 2014 PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour Edinburgh Main Event after defeating Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree heads-up! It was a very thrilling battle for the title and the first prize of £93,900, and the fact is Boeree was only one card away from the title at the beginning of the match...
Hutchison three-bet all in for 1.7 million with A4 and Boeree snapped called with KK. The flop came down 572 and gave Hutchison a gutshot straight draw. The J turn game him a flush draw as well and, unfortunately for Boeree, the 3 completed the board and Hutchison took down the pot with a straight.
Even battle for the title
The two took turns at holding the chip lead over the next 90 minutes before Boeree flopped top two pair only for Hutchison to turn a pair and river a better two-pair. Boeree was left with less than 20 big blinds after that hand and decided to shove only 10 minutes later with 53 on a 456 flop. A decent hand but not as good as Hutchison's 65. The K turn and 8 river was no good for Boeree and Hutchison was crowned the champion!
