It seems like U.S. players who relocated to Mexico after Black Friday (April 15, 2011, when the Department of Justice shut down PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker among other online poker sites in the United States) will have to look elsewhere soon if they want to continue playing online poker on the global poker market.
New gaming laws in Mexico that will be put into place next year are expected to separate the local market from the rest of the world. Foreign companies that want to operate poker sites in Mexico will be able to apply for a license. However, they will also have to register a business there and must run their games on a .com.mx domain. Transactions to sites outside Mexico will be blocked when the new gaming laws come into force next year.
