2014 WSOP: Several Thefts at Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino

Tags: 2014 WSOP, Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, theft of property.
Posted on 29 May 2014 by "T".

The long wait is finally over as the 2014 WSOP is under way in Las Vegas (the first bracelet winner should be announced shortly here on the news section)! Unfortunately, some poker pros onsite have had a nightmare start to the increadible tournament series as laptops, cash and other items have been stolen from their rooms at the Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel in the past 2-3 days.

With "EPT Barcelona again?" Personen is referring to the players whose laptops mysteriously disappeared and reappeared in their hotel rooms at Hotel Arts during the 2013 EPT Barcelona. Finnish high stakes pro Jens "Jeans" Kyllonen was one of the victims, and he later found out that a Remove Access Trojan (RAT) had been installed via a USB port on his laptop. In other words, they were probably going to cheat him (and other victims/poker players) of money at the poker tables.

However, the attempted frauds at the 2013 EPT Barcelona are most probably not related to what's going on at Rio, given that no laptops have been returned yet, plus other items have been stolen as well.

Yep this is gonna sucks remembered the last time there was an event and there was theft going all around and this is going to brings negativity to the poker world and people will start not coming to the tournament like the pros and so on. Because the thief are targeting themselves because they have the money. The organizers should tighten the security!

This is never a nice thing to happen to anyone and i hope that they catch the person responsible. Its bad enough losing at the tables but to have your stuff stolen is the lowest of the low

The hotels seems to be pretty bad.

I mean, it can happen sometimes, but 3 times in a short time...

Such large events always attract all sort of scammers and cons into play, it's innevitable...

The only difference can be made by good security that can prevent most of these events or not. I do not think these events will affect the games though.

Poker players are probably good targets.

They are young and they have a lot of money.
