partypoker Rolls Out Major Poker Software Changes

PartyPoker announced on October 1st that it was going to make several changes in the poker software over the coming weeks to create a playing environment that is fun and exciting for all players regardless of their bankroll or their level of experience.

Two major changes came into effect on Thursday, October 15th:

1. Players wishing to wait for a cash game will join the room-wide waiting list and be randomly seated when a seat that matches their preference becomes available
2. Players joining a cash game will see the names of their opponents only once their first hand is dealt

Director of Games, Golan Shaked, explains why these changes are being made.

"As part of our Poker for the People campaign, the partypoker team is committed to providing all poker players, regardless of experience or skill levels, with trusted poker products that are fair, ethical and fun. We will continue working with the wider poker community on developing a mutually beneficial, trusting relationship."

Commenting on the changes, Poker Hall of Fame inductee and partypoker ambassador Mike Sexton said: "As a professional poker player, I understand players who seek out games with weaker players, but they must realize that those being 'stalked' will most likely quit playing if the same User Names continually show up at their table when they opt to play.  Losing these players is not good for the everyday player or the site.  Personally, I think it's great that recreational players are being protected from the using third party software. Hats off to partypoker for implementing this."

Upcoming tournaments on partypoker:

POKERFEST (Sunday, 25th October 2015): 80 events, $2.5 million in guaranteed prize pools

Honestly the next I will take time to give a damn about PP is when they r no longer gonna treat hungarians like pariahs. They are gone from our markets long ago so I see no reason to bother with them.

There has been quite a few changes at party poker lately but not really sure why some of them are happening. As for the cash games why reveal the name of your opponent after the first hand? You can still just leave if you don't want to play them?

Yes, but seating scripts allow you to scan all tables to find weak players. Now you have to join every one, and play a hand in order to find out.
This is a handicap for bumhunters; they might go elsewhere.

I don't use any seating script software, but I did bum hunt, by looking up weak players on poker table ratings site. This had an enormous positive impact on my winrate. This new measure makes table selection a lot harder.

ok so what's the point of showing the name of the opponent in the 1st hand- if they want to go anonymous they should go anonymous all the way right? this sounds like fighting a bank scammer by only allowing him to see his victims login details only once.

It's always nice to be able to choose who you sit down at a table with. However, the surprise of not knowing which shark or fish you are sitting with does mix it up a big....but does it both ways. Fishes can no longer run away from the Sharks and makes it all the much better for fun!

These changes could become universal standards by the end of 2016.

It's obviously a very good initiative. Recording data of billions of hands and using to your advantage clearly is cheating in my opinion. No human can do that. Part of poker is to be able to find out how your opponents play, not knowing right off the bath what's his VPIP and his 3bet %. Big Smile People who have been taking notes for a long time will be happy... Blink

I hope all poker sites follow Bwin/Partypoker on this one.
