Mississippi Grind is the name of an upcoming gambling movie (involving high-stakes tournament poker) starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn. The movie, which is written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, is about a gambler, Gerry (Ben Mendelsohn), on a losing streak who teams up with a younger charismatic poker player, Curtis (Ryan Reynolds), in an attempt change his luck. The two hit the road together and travel from town to town and casino to casino with the vision of winning back what has been lost.

"It's very much a character piece," said Fleck, one of the directors of the movie. "They both have different agendas. Gerry wants to win his money and change his life and pay off his debts. Curtis' motivations are a lot more mysterious. We don't know why he's going on this journey till it reveals itself later on in the movie.

The movie does not have a release date yet, but it should hit cinemas later this year. Sienna Miller, Analeigh Tipton, and Alfre Woodard also star in the movie.

I do like a good gambling film and i look forward to watching this one. A lot of these films are very disappointing and i hope that this one isnt. Rounders is still the number one gambling film in my opinion

Doesn't this film description sound rather similar to the film The Hustler? Most of the time when you see poker represented in films or TV you quickly realise that the director has never played poker and it soon gets disappointing so lets hope this one is better.

Gambling movie with Ryan Reynolds? Awesome! Can't wait for it. The actor is good, and the film story will be good, I think. Sorry for bad English.

Yeah let us hope that the film will be a good one, but what I am happy about is the simple fact, that they produce a new Gambling movie at all. I mean, there are not that many out there, so a new one is better than nothing, even if it is not top stuff.

So, he is not teaming up with somebody to find the leaks in his game - he is just making an attempt to 'change his luck'. Sounds about right. Yup, luck is the 'it' factor when it's come to poker. Nothing but luck.
Luck, be my lady tonight.

There hasn't really been a great poker movie since they made Rounders. One of my all time favourite movies and a reason I play the game of poker. Ryan Reynolds is a pretty good actor so my hopes are high we could end up with another great movie when all is said and done.

Nice news. Looking forward to it. The story sounds quite good. I like these stories especially when it is not only a film about poker and gambling just because it is quite trendy nowadays but have a real and interesting story with famous actors acting in them.
