PokerStars' Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) Perth Main Event concluded yesterday at Crown Perth in Australia. A field of 192 entrants was narrowed down to a winner, Michael Kane, after four action-packed days of poker.
Kane brought the 5th largest stack to the final table but was eventually short-stacked all in for his tournament life with nine players remaining. He managed to double up and then went on a winning streak.
After several hours of play, he was playing heads-up against Stephen McHugh and struck a deal, which left $20,000 to play for. The battle lasted for around three hours before Kane claimed the final hand of the tournament.
McHugh had just about 20 big blinds and shoved with K10, Kane woke up with 99 and called.
The flop came down A10J to give McHugh the lead. McHugh's hand improved to three-of-a-kind on the 10 turn, but the 4 completed the board and Kane scoped the pot with a lucky runner runner flush.
Final table results:
1st: Michael Kane - *$98,900
2nd: Stephen McHugh - *$72,100
3rd: Michael Doyle - $37,000
