Legendary Aviation Club de France Closed For Good

In September last year, police raided Aviation Club de France, a more than hundred year old casino on one of Paris' finest addresses, and brought 12 persons into custody after allegations of breaches of employment law and money laundering.

Among the people who were taken into custody were several employees and the Director of the Games Committee Marcel Francisci, a figure of the Corsican politics who is close to France's former president Nicholas Sarkozy.

The casino was placed in judicial proceedings in November 2014, but no renewal of its gambling license has been made after. Last week, The Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris broke the news that the historic casino and poker club had been placed in liquidation.

Aviation Club de France opened as a private club in 1907 and turned into a gambling place in 1925 (poker was introduced in 1995). It will surely be missed by many poker players, given that it hosted many major poker tournaments - including some stops on the World Poker Tour.

Over 200 employees have been left redundant, despite campaigns to bring the ACF back after its initial closure(management of the club even sent a personal letter to France's president François Hollande)

What a shame it is that a legendary club like The Aviation Club De France is going to close. I never thought that a casino of this stature would ever shut and proves that no business is safe nowadays

At one time this was probably a great casino but judging by the news as to why it closed then it appears management have made a lot of bad decisions.A shame so many people lost their jobs.

Yeah, well any place which feeds corsican gangsters like this Marcel Francisci, will be up 4 danger in the future - striking down on gambling dens where these people frequent is nothing new I guess.
