Los Angeles pro and WSOP regular Daniel Alaei, 30, is the winner of the most prestigious Omaha High-Low Split tournament of the Year. The $10,000 buy-in event attracted 157 entries who battled it out over three days of play. The total prize pool amounted to $1,4,75,800 and 9 of the 18 players who cashed had won WSOP gold in the past.
Alaei now has five gold bracelets under his belt and is the second-youngest player in history to have accomplish that after Allen Cunningham, who picked up his fifth bracelet only a few months earlier at the same age.
To put things into perspective, Phil Hellmuth, who won his 14th bracelet earlier this week, was 31-years-old when he won his fifth bracelet. If Daniel Alaei keeps up the current pace, he could possibly catch up with Hellmuth and other multiple bracelet winners in the future. It will be interesting to see what the poker gods have in stock for him!
