Claudio Moya, a 51-year-old businessman from Chile, is the winner of the Latin American Poker Tour Chile Main Event after four days of play, including a lengthy heads-up match against Chadi Moustapha of Lebanon. (Moya and Moustapha agreed to a two-way deal that left $15,576 in play for the winner).
In the final hand, Moustapha opened with a 300,000 bet from the button, Moya called, and the flop fell JQT. Moya bet 600k, and Moustapha called. Moya announced that he was all in (about 1.9 million) after the turn card T hit the table.
Moustapha sat motionless for over a minute before making the call. Moya stood up and tabled 98 for a flopped straight. Moustapha turned over AA and needed to hit a higher straight or a full house to stay alive. The river card was the 7 and Moustapha had been eliminated in second place for $120,000 - while Moya celebrated the victory (worth $135,876) with his friends from the rail.
