Victoria Coren Mitchell and Debbie Burkhead shall be inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHoF) this coming July via a special ceremony to be held at the ballroom of Gold Coast Casino, Las Vegas.

The WiPHoF was founded in 2008 for the main purpose of recognizing the achievements of female poker players as well as their contribution to raising awareness of the game. To be a candidate for induction into the ladies' poker Hall of Fame, the nominees have to be involved in the industry, either as an organizer or a player, for a minimum of 15 years; and even if they do not play in them, they should also openly support the existence of women's poker games.

The WiPHoF proudly supports the efforts of Poker Gives, a nonprofit charity in which funds are raised to assist military families in need via support services.

Victoria Coren Mitchell
Victoria Coren Mitchell started playing poker in her teen years. She played poker with her brother's friends to be a part of their group and observe what they're doing. Playing poker did pay off nicely for her as she became the first two-time winner of poker's most prominent tournaments.

Victoria won the 2006 EPT London Main Event and the 2014 EPT San Remo Main Event, for a combined total of $1,602,460.

Currently, she has more than $2.4 million worth of tournament earnings.
Victoria is probably the best known poker player in the UK and by the media. She is a writer, TV broadcaster, film director, and most recently became a wife and mother. She is the first European to be inducted into the WiPHoF.

Debbie Burkhead
Debbie Burkhead started her career in poker as both a writer and player in the early 1990s. She writes a bimonthly column "Debbie Does Poker" which ran for over 10 years in the Poker Player Newspaper. In her writings, she promoted ladies' tournaments as well as reported various ladies poker events happening around the country. She started her career as a sales rep for the Poker Player Newspaper in 2003, and was then promoted to become the National Sales Director in 2009, in which the position renders her responsible for supervising six sales associates throughout the US. In 2010, she co-founded Poker Player Cruises and served as President up until 2013.

Debbie is deemed as a well-rounded tournament player with almost $200K in live tournament earnings. Her most notable achievement was in 2007 when she won $22,890 at a ladies event at the Orleans Open. She has cashed in four WSOP events. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the WiPHoF.

This is a nice tribute to two ladies who have excelled at poker. I can't think of two more deserving recipients...... And by the looks of it it doesn't really matter what I think cos they look destined to be included according to the article. We need more women in poker..... Not just glamour model players, but lovely ladies from all walks of life. Bring it on ladies. Get your cards out and start playing.
