The 2016 Run It Up Reno tournament's wild format showed an initial entry of $85 and rebuys of $50, which were unlimited for the first 6 levels. Of course, the rule is that players must only do one of two actions, either go All-in or Fold. The action went on with lots of rebuys. By the time WSOP gold bracelet winner Chad Holloway got eliminated on the bubble, the final 16 were determined and in the money.
When it was the final table of nine, Mariano was leading but it can be anyone's game since he had less than 20 big blinds. He emerged victorious after the first couple of eliminations, winning preflop all-ins while mowing through his final six opponents in the following order: Scott Hoffer, Kevin Barrett, Emily Johnson, Briann Fletcher, Andy Peplinski, and Rob Hamilton.
In order to take the prize, Mariano beat the last six players in succession.
Final table results:
1 Rob Mariano $5,051
2 Rob Hamilton $3,368
3 Andy Peplinski $2,189
4 Briann Fletcher $1,431
5 Emily Johnson $994
6 Kevin Barrett $674
7 Scott Hoffer $505
8 Buzz Carter $404
Last year, Mariano got ninth place in the 2015 Run It Up Reno $565 Main Event, taking home with him $2,760. While Mariano is quite a famous TV personality worldwide from winning in televised reality competitions, including Survivor and The Amazing Race, his ability in Reno tournaments to "run it up" is quickly becoming steadfast.
