EPT Barcelona: Pratyush Buddiga Wins €25k High Roller!

It took a bit less than 15 hours of play until just one player remained in this year's €25k Single Day High Roller in Barcelona, Spain. US poker pro Pratyush Buddiga bested an extremely tough field of 162 players to claim the title and $690,275 in prize money!

Once the final table was down to its last three players (David Yan, Adrey Shatilov and Buddiga) a deal was made. All three players decided to move all in every hand and let the poker gods determine who the champion would be. It only took 2 hands of all-in's before a winner had been crowned...

1st hand:

Shatilov 6Heart5Heart
Buddiga 8Spade5Spade
Yan KSpadeJDiamond

The board ran out JHeartASpade9Spade9Club6Spade and Buddiga took home the pot with a rivered flush. Shatilov was eliminated and Yan was left with only 460,000 in chips.

2nd hand:

Buddiga 9Diamond7Spade
Yan 8Heart4Heart

The 9Club6Club9HeartJDiamond10Club board meant that Buddiga was the winner, however, Yan still took home the biggest slice of the prize pool (€704,755) thanks to the 3-handed deal. Buddiga now has close to $5 millon in lifetime tournament earnings. His biggest win was a 3rd place finish in the 2014 APPT Super High Roller for $844,571.

Final table results:

1 Pratyush Buddiga United States €690,275
2 David Yan New Zealand €704,755
3 Andrey Shatilov Russia €606,020
4 Tobias Reinkemeier Germany €347,650
5 Steve O'Dwyer Ireland €278,900
6 Alex Komaromi Uruguay €216,250
7 Parker Talbot Canada €160,080
8 Sergey Lebedev Russia €117,640

This is why you don't make a deal with more than one people at the end.
Either the money difference or getting the actual title was meaningless for this trio so they went with it anyway.
I just don't like these. It's a cop out. If the first player who went home out of this 162 could not make similar deals neither the last ones should be allowed to.

Many congratulations to Pratyush Buddiga on winning this event and the 690,275 first prize. Its always strange to see the second place finisher take home more than the winner

many congratulation to one of the biggest names in online, offline and everything in between poker player Pratyush Buddiga. i have to admit that even the fact that Pratyush Buddiga has won less money by winning the title than the 2nd place finisher has no chance to diminish his superhero status.

Congratulations to Pratyush Buddiga for being crowned a champion of 2016 €25,000 Single Day High Roller tournament, which attracted 162 ambitious, talented players from all around the globe.

I have never heard of this guy before. Is he a businessman or a pro poker player? I guess he must be good considering the field in that tournament. It's nearly impossible to win with just luck and no skills Blink

Anyhow, only 15 hours to play a game with such a huge buy-in is pretty rare, they usually make the structure slower so that it lasts longer. I guess the people who play this are all millionaires Blink

Now i have heard about deals before. But this is something is see for the very first time Smile
I would never have agreed to a play like this.
You are in the final three with 25k buy in, and you decide to go all every hand? Why?

Here is another fine example that these players are just gamblers.
