James Mackey became the champion of the World Poker Tour Choctaw Main Event on Tuesday after defeating Benjamin Zamani in the heads-up play. On the final hand, Mackey's pair of eights held up against Zamani's pocket fives after both players went all in pre-flop.
The $3,700 re-entry event attracted 1,066 players to Choctaw Casino Resort in Oklahoma, USA, and MacKey received $681,758 and a seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions for his first-place finish. He now has more than $3.5 million in lifetime earnings and only needs an EPT victory to complete poker's triple crown.
