On Wednesday, Art Papazyan emerged as the champion in the World Poker Tour Maryland Live! Main Event for $389,405 thanks to defeating a field of 561 players!
This is Papazyan's second WPT Main Event title in just over 1 month, after defeating 14-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth heads-up in the WPT Legend of Poker Main Event in August.
In total, 26 players have won more than one WPT title to date and only 8 of them have won multiple titles in the same season. Besides from Papazyan, the other 7 players are Gus Hansen (Season I), Howard Lederer (Season I), Erick Lindgren (Season II), Tuan Le (Season III), Darren Elias (Season XIII), Anthony Zinno (Season XIII), and Sam Panzica (Season XV).
"I feel like this is not even real,"Papazyan told WPT.com after the win. "Who would have thought I play my first WPT and I win against Phil Hellmuth? Then I play my second WPT, I come to Maryland across the country, and I win again? I would never have thought in my wildest dreams that this would ever happen. I'm so happy it did."
