Ryan Tosoc was actually the 2016 Runner-Up on WPT Five Diamond Main Event, and this time, he's made sure to snatch that top spot, defeating the record 812-entry field to win $1,958,065!

Ryan Tosoc has won the 2017 Season XVI World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic $10,400 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event at the iconic Bellagio in Las Vegas. His remarkable win is interestingly special, because he actually finished as a runner-up in the exact same event last year.

Tosoc stood strong against a player field of 812 entries on this quest to secure the prestigious title, deemed as the biggest field in the history of this event. He earned the sweet first-place prize of $1,958,065 and as a result of being the top winner in this event, his name was also added to the WPT Champions Cup.

Tosoc said to WPT reporters after the event, "It feels unreal. I kind of feel like I'm in a dream right now."

Tosoc, age 27, a resident of Las Vegas, has now earned over $3 million in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic in the past two years, having cashed for over $1.1 million in 2016 as the second place finisher.

Tosoc started the final day of the event as the second highest in chips with six players remaining. He managed to beat 26-year-old poker pro Alex Foxen, who's actually having his breakout year on the live tournament circuit.

Tosoc began the heads-up play with about a 3-to-2 chip advantage over Foxen. They battled for 49 hands. In the end Tosoc won, while Foxen earned $1,134,202 as the runner-up, but still it's Foxen's biggest payday of his career so far.

Speaking of luck, here is a good example. Being a runner up on the previous
tournament and now he won it, for almost 2 millions.
10k buy in with a big field of players, reaching 812.
Not a bad sum so far for his age. About 3 millions and he is only 27 years old.

Many congratulations to Ryan Tosoc on winning this event and nearly two million dollars first prize. This is even more remarkable has he finished second in the exact same event last year

For two consecutive years this professional poker player has managed a very difficult record. Ryan Tosoc managed to win the second place and then place 1 in the same tournament. This record will be equalized or more with great difficulty. Many congratulations to Ryan Tosoc did something beautiful.

of course this is an amazing achievement .... take second place and come in a year to try again and eventually win ..... it's very cool .... a man found his place ..... I'm sure that in a year he again will play in this tournament and it would be cool if he was again among the leaders

yeah really a special situation- having been the runner up in the last years tournament to come back next year in same tournament consisting of more than 800 entrants and to win it is unreal. almost a perfect score- back to back wins.

Yes I think too this is very interesting situation because it is very hard to win in ine tournament or to finish second place when there is so !any good players, but in same tournament again next year to win 1st place is super result. This is very special luck, he will remember this for all life
