Earlier this week partypoker announced that norwegian poker legend Johnny Lodden had joined its team of ambassadors! Lodden's 22 cashes in EPT Main Events is more than any other player, and now he will take on a new venture in the partypoker LIVE tour.

The newest partypoker ambassador Johnny Lodden said "partypoker has always been one of the world's largest poker sites and it is an honour for me to be part of their team. It was important for me to sign with a company that believes in their poker product and their mission. The fact that John Duthie has been appointed President of partypoker LIVE ensures their commitment to the game, and that is something I am excited to be part of."

Aside from Lodden, Thomas Udness will join partypoker. Udness has been instrumental in the legalization process for poker in Norway, and was responsible for the first two legal Norwegian Championships of Poker held in Norway.

"I am humble and proud to be given the opportunity to head partypoker in the Nordics, it is also amazing to once again be working with Johnny Lodden. He is a poker legend both in and outside of the Nordics and is a player that is highly respected around the world. Together we are already looking at how we can to give players great poker experiences both live and online", said Thomas Udness.

Managing Director of partypoker, Tom Waters said "We are looking to establish ourselves in the Nordic market and Thomas and Johnny are the perfect people to help us achieve our goals. Johnny will fit perfectly into the team as he shares our beliefs and aspirations. Thomas is highly experienced and will bring extensive local knowledge to the team and will work with Johnny to build awareness of partypoker events, both live and online, in the Nordic markets".

I don't understand this ambassador stuff, why they are here at all, what is the need? To players who already play they are not interesting, to those players who not yet registered they to offer no attraction, betternjust give some free tuckets, money

I must say that I didnt heard for him till now and in past we had this signed players that were famous!now they sign players when they win one live tournament and he is ambassador!maybe they think that more players will come to play on their site,if they see some player from their country of player who big tournaments!

^^^^^^^to the above posts wtf, lodden is from the 'pre black friday' live tournament era - thinking esfandiari, kid poker etc he plays/played with that crowd he was a pokerstars team pro. he either was or still is the most cashed player from norway.

also hes the name behind the famous game of all.....'lodden thinks'

they have 'ambassadors' to attract people to the brand/site. triple 8 currently is more focused on people with a youtube/twitch following. while others try and get sports stars in to attract that new fan base or to solidify the brands place in a certain market. just with any company sponsoring a team or player in any sport its so they can have a 'face'.

PP is ready to attract any person who is at least a little known in the world ... of course I can understand that the PP wants to achieve popularity among poker rooms but it seems to me to attract players they should first enter freerolls .... it's freerolls without limits

nice to hear this... after johnny was kicked out as a team member of that stupid pokerstars, to get contract with party... I think its preaty awesome, and player like him deserve contract with party poker!!!

I don't really know him or how he plays but I have heard his name before. I can't tell if it's good for partypoker but it's definetly good for him. Being endorsed by a poker company that big when you're a professionnal poker player is definetly a blessing. Many very talented players don't have this luck. I wonder if he is big enough of a star to really massively bring people to play at party though. But a lot of people should consider moving from stars atleast temporarily untill they restart giving away some of the cash they take from us.

well yeah just as some dudes pointed this in above posts, i think that poker sites would attract a lot more players (new or returning- depending on who they are targeting) by say running a commercial stating: " we give $10 free to every new player. offer valid to first 10k new players. be quick and grab your $10 with no strings attached" instead of showing neymar or ronaldo in thong...

The names come one after another in the poker world.
It must be more than prestige, having signed some people.
At the end they must be drawing people and attention to the site,
especially when they are participating in events, like playing poker.

yeah stars did something similar before - not sure if they still do, but you could sign up via one of the team pro's links and be able to participate in special tournaments/freerolls etc

Massive congratulations go out to Norwegian poker legend Johnny Lodden for joining the PartyPoker team of ambassadors. I have absolutely no doubt that Lodden will be an indispensable asset to PartyPoker.

wow,how people love to give thumbs down!just because somebody write that dont know anything about this player or reasons why to sign up new abassadors?seems to be that you cant have own opinion which is different from others!

They don't need more ambassadors they need frikkin traffic IMO, it's quite ridiculous that SNGs hardly fill up mid-week and so on. They have issues on so many areas besides who is promoting the site.

i agree, i havent been a fan of the site, its always lacked behind stars. Though with this signing it would be more to do with the making a big play in the live tournament scene since the ept is no longer

Its nice to see a player of Johnny Lodden's standing to land one of these jobs. He has been around the European circuit for a while now and he deserves a very nice job like this
 damosk09/04/2017 09:53:56 GMT
Guys..... it's just a game. Pokerstars used to use louden in a Twitter or Facebook promo called LODDEN THINKS. It's a gimmick which got people involved in trying to win tourney tickets and stuff. Now, if they can use a Norwegian to do this in Scandinavia, then they are quids in. He will have more pull than Ronaldo in a thong to the norwegians! (Weird yes I know, but that Norway for ya!). Don't be getting upset about marketing strategies... just think....here come more fish to play against and take money from!
 bowie198416/04/2017 01:19:40 GMT
I was not upset but these gimmicks will never build them a strong userbase again rather than just getting a couple waves of new registers and thats pretty much it. They are a well known company by now but other than their name recognition they really not putting much on the table...
 pochui16/04/2017 08:01:54 GMT
what's with all these upwotes and downvotes on this thread? why suddenly this thread is so important to up and down every second post here?
oh btw i don't really think that another so called poker pro/ambassador/whatever actually helps a lot in terms of a big wave of new registrants... those who are interested in playing have already long ago created their accounts and those who are not interested noa mbassador is going to change their mind...
 DaCapo7116/04/2017 08:12:32 GMT
I'm a ltiitle bit surprised that some poker rooms are giving a lot of ambassadors a contract. This biggest boom is over for the moment and which new players played at a room when he know they have a star as a ambassador? But otherwise it can give more public on tv for a room.
 Robbo199016/04/2017 10:45:40 GMT
like i said earlier, this obviously isnt to do with online....its about the live tournaments.
