Casino wants couple to return jackpot prize, says it’s not theirs

Before we go ahead and bash the casino immediately (since most of us instantly assume that when somebody wins at a casino, they will do everything to find an excuse NOT to pay the winner), let’s see what happened last week, which started Monday, May 1.

At the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino located in Biloxi, Mississippi, police were called by the casino management on a situation regarding a couple who took off with over $1,000 in winnings, which they haven’t actually won.

Turns out that the two suspects, Christopher Ray Kinney, age 45, and Gina Renee Kinney, age 48, apparently had not placed any wager into a slot machine, but instead they simply cashed in a stolen ticket. Police speculate that they are husband and wife.

A gambler had left a slot machine unattended. Afterwards, the couple appeared, grabbed the cash-out ticket and collected the winnings.

On Friday, May 5, the two turned themselves in to the police. They were arrested on a grand larceny charge.

kinda sh1tty jackpot of only $1k... not sure this sort of amount can even be called a jackpot to be honest. but one thing i don't like about this info post is that we are encouraged not to bash the casino... yeah right- we don't give a sh1t if casino is right or wrong, because even if the are right they are wrong, wrong to be right...

And of course they want the money returned.
Anyone doubts that?
I hope the player that they got the ticket from, got reimbursed from the casino after all.

I see we moved from the robberies outside casinos, to inside Blink

I am glad that these two have been caught and i hope that the money goes to the rightful gambler. I hate larceny of any scale and it is not a very nice experience to go through

Once again I'm reading about a poor poor casino that again suffers from accursed players .... maybe when entering the casino should immediately give all the money and go home safely ... .... maybe soon so it will be

What a story how many of you have seen a gambler leave a slot machine unattended with a $1,000.00 or any amount ticket left there.

I have seen players asking to someone else to check their slot with a little bit of money in to go to the restroom but never leaving just like that. Confused Confused

well as I see here, nobody were near slot and ofcourse that somebody would take opportunity to take free money!he should ask somebody to watch slot if he had automatic play, till he back from bathroom or who know where!

Some casinos, have rules about the slots, not for this scenario though, that once you leave a slot
it is free for anyone to join. But some think they can reserve one for ever.
It would be interesting to know if they have the same rulre for this scenario.
Cause probably the specific player, was reserving the slot this way, with the money in.
 Gerimantas13/05/2017 12:32:43 GMT
Yes I to see this "slot reserved" signs sometimes at casino so this is what people must fo before leaving the slot nachine with miney in there, and if they forget to don this then i dont see such a big crime, maybe people just saw money un skot and thought that someone left the money forgot and is not coming back so why keave money for casino?

I've never seen a jackpot prize of $1000 before, what kind of casino is this even online their jackpot is more than $10,000 and the worse is that they are refusing to pay this small amount (for them not me Smile ) for just a silly reason...

Wow! What a story...so many variables and poderables it almost defies belief! Firstly we have a casino that offers $1000 jackpot...HUGE!!!!!!! We the. Have a slot player who walks away from the slot machine leaving a $1000 winning ticket in situ! Then we have the couple.... who seize an opportunity to retrieve the 'abandoned' ticket. (Ownership abandoned?). Then we have the term 'Grand Larceny'. This is such an antiquated term, but is still well loved. All in all, it will be interesting to see what the outcome is and I am sure there will be an appropriate news report when it does conclude.

yeah its same that somebody lost betting ticket and another man come and find that ticket and see results and to pick up money!why he shouldnt get money, its not his fault that another person lost it!but this only can be in america!
 pochui14/05/2017 13:26:36 GMT
well yeah damosk pretty much wrapped up the whole story in typical British style, +1 for the enjoyable read. yeah still can't quite understand how the hell casino jackpot managed to reach such unprecedented amount like $1000, with no more zeros to be added. i can only imagine how hard it is for casino marketing team to create a promo campaign of any sort trying to lure masses to such jackie...
