On Wednesday, WSOP.com announced that this summer's Main Event final table will be played already in July! This means that the November Nine concept, which was implemented in 2007, has been sacked and poker fans all over the world will not have to wait four months to watch the final table!

Poker Central® has acquired the global television and digital media rights for this summer's World Series of Poker and they have reached an agreement with ESPN to broadcast all the Main Event action: "ESPN will telecast an estimated 40 hours of live* WSOP Main Event coverage each July, plus a commitment of original packaged shows totaling 130 hours annually. Any coverage not aired by ESPN will be streamed exclusively through Poker Central's digital distribution channels," WSOP.com Editor-In-Chief Seth Palansky reported.

"ESPN has been our home since 2002 and we're delighted to extend the relationship into the next decade," said Ty Stewart, executive director, WSOP. "Having every day live coverage of the WSOP Main Event is truly a huge commitment on behalf of ESPN and Poker Central and we look forward to delivering to our faithful audience wall-to-wall action from the outset for the very first time."

"We are thrilled to add the preeminent poker brand, the World Series of Poker, to our growing portfolio of poker-related content," said JR McCabe, chief digital officer, Poker Central. "We have major plans to reinvent the WSOP offering to greatly expand how, when and where fans of the game of poker can watch and engage with the game."

"The World Series of Poker has been a longstanding staple of ESPN programming," said Dan Ochs, director of programming and acquisitions, ESPN.  "We are pleased to reach an agreement to continue to carry the sport's most prominent event and modernize our coverage with the new same day live coverage throughout July each year."

I think that´s the better way, that we can see the final table in July. Ok in the last years they mad a good promotion for the november nine, but the WSOP main event was in July. And now we can get all bracelets in the summer, like in the past Big Smile

well I dont know how to feel about this... 4 months of wait was preaty long... but they should keep november niner title... Like FT to be played like week or two after they reached it... because to reach FT of this kind of tourney deserve a title!

When November Nine was first introduced, many of us thought it was a very good idea but then started to fed up about it because we find that to wait so long to know who will be crowed world champ is ridiculous... yes to wait one week or two to play the final table is good but not longer.

Never realy liked that long break. Finalist got coaches for the final table, relocated to jurisdictions where they pay less taxes, if they expected a big payout. A deformation of the whole tournament.

finally they changed this rule and it will be faster!this was stupid rule to wait 4 months, for what?till november who know what can happen to players and what if somebody cant come then?on this year, you have some time to rest and then to play final table!

Every body knows that to reach final table on this tournament you need to have a lot of skill and also a lot of luck.

Now waiting four months to play the FT you can lose your luck part of the game that you had reaching it but waiting just two days the luck part of the game should be less a factor. Worship

Not much of a change for the ones not participating there, besides the "season" change.
Although for most of the poker players and enthusiasts, it will be moved on summer time Smile
which will be easier to watch and follow, than November.

I think that they have done the right thing in removing this and it will only improve the Main Event. I always thought it was very strange to have to wait 4 months to play the final table and i am glad they have seen sense

just wonder what is procedure if somebody die or any reason that he miss final table?especially when this break was for 4 months!so what happend then?they just post his blinds till he lose all of them!its best that way to have like this year!
 StheP17/05/2017 15:52:04 GMT
if someone die, his family or friend would take his place Blink confirmed... same goes if contender is sick, and couldnt play
 Gerimantas18/05/2017 19:48:04 GMT
To me it is so strange this concept, why wait for 4 months to start playing again? Ol if some promotions needed you can wait for next week, weekend and this is it, no point for long wait, even in champions league you have to wait less than 1 month and it is already a lot.
 JuanDam24/05/2017 00:20:33 GMT
In my opinion is better, because you have motivation, are you there, you have rhythm, etc
 Tony_MON7ANA09/11/2018 10:48:41 GMT
Oh, yeah... No more November Nine. I kind of miss that.
