2017 WSOP: John Racener Wins $10k Dealers Choice Championship

After many second and third place finishes, Flordia poker pro and 2010 WSOP Main Event runner-up John Racener finally got his first gold coveted bracelet early on Sunday morning after having successfully survived a tough 102-player field in the $10,000 Dealers Choice Championship!

The final table lasted for eight long hours but funnily enough it only took 10 hands of play for Racener to eliminate his final 3 opponents! Once he had eliminated his final opponent, Viacheslav Zhukov - the only non-US player on the final table, he took off his hoodie to show a plain white t-shirt with "For Mom" written on it. Racener's mother passed away four years ago from liver cancer and he dedicated this win to her.

"I always said to myself that I wanted to win my first bracelet for my mom," said Racener. "She's always been my biggest fan, and she still is from up above. No matter what time of the day it was back home, with three-hour time span, she would always stay up and sweat me online all night. Even if she had to get up for work at eight a.m. She would stay up and sweat me until she had to go to work. I just really wanted to win the first one for her."

Final Table Results:
1st: John Racener - $273,962
2nd: Viacheslav Zhukov - $169,323
3rd: Chris Klodnicki - $117,786
4th: Dennis Eichorn - $83,263
5th: Mike Matusow - $59,827
6th: Schuyler Thornton - $43,707

Congratulations to John Racener for his first gold bracelet. I remember John Racener. He was one of the 2010 WSOP main event final tablists, who won a massive $5.5 million prize. He looks different now. His hair is shorter and he's got a beard. Does he have any kids?

I dont think that any of them are up for the bracelet, which always is mentioned in the
articles.
Its all about finishing first and getting the big money.
Isnt it the same saying he has finished first 10 times, with, he has got 10 bracelets? Smile

hey look mike the mouth is at the final table, cannot say that he won a miraculous amount of cash but it gives him a few buyins into bigger tourneys i guess, of course if he wasn't staked or this this wasn't the banks money in any form of loan...

I have not read any article about what is this dealers choice event at the WSOP, I see couple of this type of events there and as I'm too lazy to do the research I hope someone could do a brief summary about what is it.

Well, i did a quick search over the net, and this is what i found about it :

Dealer's choice is a style of poker where each player may deal a different variant. As the deal passes clockwise around the table, each player occupying the dealer position chooses a variant which is either played just for the current hand or for an entire orbit.

Mike Matusow is an old-school player with a lot of experience playing this wonderful game of poker ... he's probably in any condition and can play well and correctly .... the more you do something the more you have automatic actions and losses

calmplay, you are absolutely right. I had no clue at all about it Smile
The first thing that came up to my mind, reading for "dealers" was cars for some reason.
Like they are the only ones.
It was "news" with the whole meaning of it, since we learned something more Smile
