Just like any other gambler, poker players need diversity and constant action. That said, playing for millions of dollars in poker cash games and in WSOP tournaments just isn't enough for some individuals looking for more thrill and excitement.
It seems that every year, there are poker pros whose prop bets become the center of attention at the WSOP. Last 2016, Vanessa Selbst challenged Jason Mercier and gave him 180-1 odds on a $10K bet that he cannot win three bracelets. If Mercier fails, he will give her $10,000; if he wins, he will get $1.8 million from her. The bet turned out to be a close call, but luckily for Selbst, Mercier's winning streak ended. Mercier won two bracelets, which isn't an easy feat at all on its own.
This year's WSOP, 42-year-old Daniel Negreanu has entered a prop bet with Ben Lamb, that he could win three WSOP bracelets this summer.
Negreanu says that the purpose of this bet is to push his limits throughout the summer. He is confident about it and wishes to prove that he is still one of the best poker players in the world.
On Monday, he tweeted, "Just bet @BenbaLamb I'd win 3 WSOP bracelets this summer at even money. He is lighting money on fire. Punish him!!!"
The hall of famer did not reveal the size of their bet. After he announced the bet on Twitter, other players wanted to have a piece of the action. However, Negreanu said he would only allow a number of players in. Three hours later, he tweeted, "Sorry guys, no more action available at event money for me winning 3 WSOP bracelets this summer I reached my cap."
Will lady luck smile upon Negreanu this WSOP 2017?
