On July 6, Thursday was an awesome evening for a handful of poker pros, after the conclusion of the 2017 WSOP's Event #62: $50,000 Poker Players Championship (6-Handed) tournament, a 5-day event which started on July 2, Sunday at 3pm.
The high-stakes event comprised various types of poker games including No Limit Hold'em; Seven Card Stud, Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, Razz; Pot-Limit Omaha; Limit Hold'em; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better; and 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw 6-Handed.
It was Elior ‘Crazy Elior' Sion, from United Kingdom, who came up on top amongst a field of 100 players, winning his first ever WSOP gold bracelet and a sweet grand prize of $1,395,757!
The final table was dominated with big names such as Paul Volpe, Isaac Haxton and even Daniel Negreanu, who started the final table with the chip lead. However, lady luck was not on his side this time, as after Paul Volpe settled in 6th place, Negreanu got eliminated a few hours later and ‘bitterly' finished in 5th place for $300,852.
He wrote on his Twitter account, "Bitter 5th Place finish in the most fun tourney of the year $50k PPC. 5 days of grinding hard totally disrespected by a shameful POY system."
The heads-up play between Johannes Becker and Elior Sion took quite a while, until Sion emerged the winner when the game was Omaha Hi-Lo.
This is Elior Sion's very first major live title, and now he has almost $2 million in total live tournament earnings to his name.
Final table results:
1. Elior Sion United Kingdom $1,395,767
2.Johannes Becker Germany $862,649

4. Ivo Donev Austria $419,337
