Justin Bonomo wins 2018 Super High Roller Bowl for $5,000,000

Justin Bonomo came out on top in the 2018 Super High Roller Bowl $300,000 buy-in NLHE event, outlasting a tough field of 48 players to claim the championship ring and take home the humongous first place prize of $5,000,000.

It has been a very profitable 2018 for the 32-year-old Bonomo, who had won just two months ago the Super High Roller Bowl China for a whopping $4,800,000! This year, the American poker pro has made a total of 13 final tables so far, winning 6 titles, and cashing over $13.8 million along the way.

Bonomo said after the event, "I've watched the game change. I've used all the methods and learned all the games. I finally feel like I'm on top."

Thanks to this win, Bonomo's name now climbs onto third place on the all-time money list, with career live tournament earnings of $31,941,295.

The final day commenced with Belarusian player Mikita Badziakouski as the chip leader, with Negreanu and Bonomo tied for second place. The first knockout on that day was when Jason Koon's pocket queens held up against Nick Petrangelo's pocket tens, eliminating Petrangelo in 6th place for $900,000.

Defending champ of this event Christoph Vogelsang fell short of winning this event for the second time, and he settled in 5th place for $1.2 million. It was Mikita Badziakouski who defeated Vogelsang but as he made a bluff against Daniel Negreanu's turned straight, he ended up as the shortest stack during four-handed play. Badziakouski was knocked out when his top pair wasn't enough to beat Bonomo's top pair and higher kicker, thus settling for 4th place for $1.6 million.

After Jason Koon was defeated by Bonomo, Bonomo's stack soared into the chip lead whilst Koon became the shortest stack. Ultimately, Koon was eliminated in third place for $2.1 million. He actually has won two high roller titles in the previous weeks, taking home more than $4.6 million in winnings. Koon currently has over $19 million in total career earnings.

Bonomo almost took a 4-to-1 chip lead into heads-up play against Kid Poker Daniel Negreanu. The Canada All Time Money List leader did everything he can to fight back, but in the end he had 87, with Bonomo holding 99 and he got all-in on a flop of f 976. The turn revealed K and the river 6, thus enabling Bonomo to win with a full house.

As runner-up, the 43-year-old Negreanu won $3 million in this event, the second-biggest score of his career, making his total lifetime earnings reach to more than $39.5 million now.

US$5 million return for his US$300,000 investment. That's absolutely incredible! Justin Bonomo is simply unstoppable. Massive well done to Justin. And congratulations also to Daniel Negreanu for his runner-up finish.

The incredible amount with which you bought the entry into this tournament. This professional poker player is a very lucky man but also a real player. Justin Bonomo's performances this year are very good and he will surely come in Poker Hall of Fame in 2-3 years if it's not already there.

yeah have to agree that this is one heck of a year for bonomo, sweet win of 5 millions in a single day have to say, great payday. would like to have one of those, 5 mils and I can stop working for the rest of my life, of course small problem would be the 300k buyin.

what to talk about this guy that has been the best in the world, winning a lot is always lucky when he needs it and when he does not have skill kkkk poker seems to choose people to be lucky with luck magic

This man is good! He did not know his name, but surely he is well known, since he is already in the third position of those who have won more money in live tournaments.
13 final tables in this year, it is an eyesore! From another planet. Clearly his game has improved remarkably.
Negreanu is nothing to say, of the best poker players.
I wish I could be in the middle of final tables that they play, although of buy in a little more guys, I do not think to get to 300k XD
 Mober03/06/2018 06:51:19 GMT
Of course the amazing thing for me, is not the prize of 5 millions,
for the first place, but the buy in for 300k,
Not easy to "digest" the amount of money they are spending in buy ins Smile
If you are not rich, that amount is a fortune for you Smile

Most of them dont have more than 10% of themselfs in those tournaments...

American citizens are some of the people who pay the highest tax on their earnings and this is very absurd. Scott Blumstein has earned $ 8 millions and 150 k. After tax stayed with 4.310.570 dollars. Does the American government play poker with him double against the others for this miserable taxes? This is unacceptable for me because at the same tournament a Frenchman and an Englishman won over 3 millions and 2 millions and their governments they did not stop any tax. I was very amazed. Sad for americans.
 StheP03/06/2018 18:09:43 GMT
its not only americans... all country have to pay taxas on wining... exept Great Britain, and never heard about French, but all other countries have to pay taxes, some are lower, some are higher... For example if I won it I would have to pay prob same as Blumstein in taxes...thats why most of pros are taking UK citizenship, because there is no taxes on poker winnings Blink
 shokaku03/06/2018 18:37:14 GMT
The tax issue was the main reason for players at the final tables of the WSOP main events to change their country of residency. They were up to a big payouzt, and while all countries charge a lot of tax, some charge even more.
 godoy03/06/2018 21:50:39 GMT
this and undoubtedly one of the greatest players of these new times with an incredible regularity has become one of the biggest winners of great tournaments very good performance

well this I dont know, how much money they give for this kind of buy in and who is their sponsor!but ofcourse there is lot of players who can afford this kind of buy in with crazy amounts!but after this kind of winning and even to give share to his sponsor,he will have for other buy in!
 CALICUL04/06/2018 17:44:19 GMT
Yes StheP i know about taxes because taxes are in all countries. There on this planet may be 1-2 countries without taxes but i speak generally. I was referring to the fact that the taxes are too high because in Romania is 25%. I have a picture with that tournament but also with the awards after tax. To you how big they are?

Another fantastic result for Justin Bonomo to keep an unbelievable run going. To win so much money in one year is staggering but to do it against the very best players is unheard of

Justin Bonomo is not always lucky...

Final hand 2016 WSOP Players Championship 50k - Brian Rast vs. Justin Bonomo

I think this is one of the sickest poker hands of all time.

why are you talking about sponsor? its rare someone have sponsor... they just sell action usualy with mark up... for this high tournament mark up on realy good players is around 1.2... so he just sell to a lot of people action... some will buy 1% some will buy 1/2 of % some will buy 5%... 10%... and he is poker player that never have 100% of himself it those large tournaments... actuly evry single pro player doesnt have 100% of themselfs in this kind of tournaments... its simply just proper BRM... we dont know what is his share of this 5m$ maybe he only had 1% maybe he had 50%... only he knows... and I doubt he will ever have 100% of him in any 100k$+ tournament of himself... Only those buisness billionairs that play this tournament have 100% and only if they didnt sell a part of it also...

I'm bored to hear about this player Justin Bonomo many times in a short period of time. I read a little about him and has a shameful spot on his back. He has used multiple accounts in the past 2006 and tens of thousands of dollars were confiscated. So it is forbidden by many rooms.
This thing was lucky for him in my opinion. He focused more on poker and today's his results are fabulous.
