A total of 109 survivors out of the initial 7,874 entries returned to Day 6 of the 2018 WSOP Main Event at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, and all of them are vying for the number one spot that gives them not only a golden bracelet, but also a whopping $8.8 million cash prize! At the end of the day, the 100+ contenders have been narrowed down to 26 hopefuls left, and the one to lead them on this day was Aram Zobian with 41,585,000 chips.
Aram Zobian, from Rhode Island, had just $110,903 in total live tournament earnings before this event, and it appears he aims to increase that number many times over in the upcoming days.
There are many notable players who still have a shot at the title, which includes:
- 2017 WSOP Marathon event runner-up Alex Lynskey (22,045,000)
- 2018 $1,500 Omaha 8-or-better mixed event champion Yueqi Zhu (19,245,000)
- Two-time bracelet winner Eric Froehlich (15,285,000)
- 2015 WSOP $1,000 NLHE event winner Ivan Luca (8,820,000)
- 2015 WSOP $1,500 NLHE shootout champion Barry Hutter (2,250,000; short stack into Day 7)

In 2013, Sylvain Loosli finished 4th place for $2,792,533.
In 2009, Jada Cada became the Main Event champion, and is the lone previous winner of this event so far who has a shot to becoming a two-time world champ. Cada, who set the record as the youngest player ever to win the tournament at the age of 21, shall return to Day 7 with 8,850,000 chips in his arsenal.

Coming into the day as the last female player left, this was Kelly Minkin's second time around to cash in on the Main Event, having placed 29th in 2015. However, this time she got eliminated in 50th place, seeing her last chips in with Ace-10 up against Frederik Jensen's Ace-K. She was unable to recover from the loss and was sent to the rail midway through the day, earning a nice $156,265 sum as reward for her latest deep run in this summer's prestigious poker festival.
Day 6 ended with lots of action in various tables:
At one table, Barry Hutter tripled up his chips when he turned a set of threes against the pocket aces of Alex Lynskey.
In another table, Clayton Fletcher was knocked off in 28th spot ($230,475) when he shoved all-in with K-10 and got defeated by Yueqi Zhu's K-Q.
At a different table, Jorden Fox moved all-in on a board of 10-9-2-7 while holding pocket jacks to which Michael Dyer called, holding 9-7. The King on the river kept Dyer's cards on the upper hand and so Fox was sent home in 27th place ($282,630).
The surviving 26 players, for their efforts, are now guaranteed a payday of at least $282,630 each.
Day 7 shall see the remaining 26 players up for the chopping block once again to make the official final table of nine.
If they make it to the final table, this will guarantee them at least $1 million and a chance to win the title of poker's world champion.
