Phil Hellmuth finally obtains his first title since winning his record 15th WSOP bracelet last year.
The Poker Brat beat six players in heads-up showdowns to win the 2019 Borgata Winter Poker Open heads-up event held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was the last man standing in a player field of 64 in Event #16: $1,590 NLHE Heads-Up and bagged $37,248. This is actually Phil Hellmuth's very first Borgata Poker Open trophy.
The final heads-up match was down to Phil Hellmuth versus Joseph Cappello, who battled for almost three hours. Their final hands showed:
Hellmuth had K-9
Cappello had Q-7
The board ran J-J-4-A-3, and Hellmuth's higher ranking cards earned him the title and the pot.
Hellmuth then announced his latest win via Twitter. He was very happy to win this event considering the fact that he was taking a break in between matches to enter day 1A of the World Poker Tour main event at the series.
