Phil Hellmuth finally obtains his first title since winning his record 15th WSOP bracelet last year.

The Poker Brat beat six players in heads-up showdowns to win the 2019 Borgata Winter Poker Open heads-up event held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was the last man standing in a player field of 64 in Event #16: $1,590 NLHE Heads-Up and bagged $37,248. This is actually Phil Hellmuth's very first Borgata Poker Open trophy.

The final heads-up match was down to Phil Hellmuth versus Joseph Cappello, who battled for almost three hours. Their final hands showed:

Hellmuth had K-9

Cappello had Q-7

The board ran J-J-4-A-3, and Hellmuth's higher ranking cards earned him the title and the pot.

Hellmuth then announced his latest win via Twitter. He was very happy to win this event considering the fact that he was taking a break in between matches to enter day 1A of the World Poker Tour main event at the series.

It's always great to see Phil Hellmuth winning and congratulations to him. You either love or hate this guy, by the way i absolutely love watching him play, and it is not going to be the last tournament he wins. Well done again Phil

K9o as a starting hand? Really? I don`t even want to imagine the drama that would unfold, if someone should beat Hellmuth with such a weakish starting hand, and he was in the right mood for one of his usual meltdowns.

No matter what they are saying about this player and his temper,
no doubt he is one of the best poker players, with the most WSOP bracelets
on top of it. And the one that follows, not even close, since he is five
bracelets ahead.
Nice to see him back in wins

Phil Hellmuth is a very good player, we can not deny this and he will earn more money from poker in future.
I did not watch his latest games and i do not know about his temper now.
I think he's calm and when he had some escapes probably was in bad times. Smile
Anyway, he remains a reputable player.

Huge congratulations to Phil Hellmuth on winning the Borgata Winter Poker Open heads-up tournament! Heads-up poker is the purest form of the poker game and is one of my favorite game types. I prefer heads-up no-limit hold'em cash games over heads-up no-limit hold'em tournaments because there is always (unless you are extremely short-stacked) plenty of room for post-flop play.
