On June 4, Tuesday, a South Korean native living in New York was able to make an incredible one-chip comeback to capture his very first gold bracelet after winning Event #12 of the 2019 WSOP.

Daniel Park outlasted a player field of 2,452 to take home the prize money worth $226,243.

Born in South Korea but currently living as a US citizen of Bayside, New York since he was nine, the 38-year-old Park said after he won, "I can't believe it right now. It's so unreal."

WPT Merit Cyprus Classic: Erik Cajelais in the lead when only 18 players remain

The plan was to play 5 levels of 90-minutes but it wasn't necessary since the field had been narrowed down to only 18 players when 65-minutes remained of the final level. The new chip leader is Erik Cajelais, who has been in the top of the field since the very beginning of the tournament, with 1,190,000 chips. The Canadian poker pro finished runner-up in the 2007 Turks and Caicos Poker Classic and then finished 4th in the more recent Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event, and now he has a fantastic chance of winning his first WPT title.

The WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star event didn't turn out the way most people had predicted. Firstly, for the first time in Bay 101 Shooting Star history, not a single Shooting Star made it to the final table. Secondly, a satellite winner ended up beating a field of 364 players and grabbed the title and almost $1 million in prize money.

After 3 days of play (4 if you include both Day 1a and b), the World Poker Tour's Bay 101 Shooting Star main event is down to a final table. Erik Cajelais, from Canada, will sit down at the final table today with a 3,6 million stack - about 1,3 million more than Ubaid Habib in second place.
