Posted on 05 February 2014 by "T".

Everyone's favourite Swede Viktor "Isildur1" Blom has had a massive upswing in the last couple of weeks. According to online-tracking site highstakesdb, over a $1 from his winnings come from heads-up matches (between January 14-17) against PokstflopAction. Blom is the biggest winner online this year with a total profit of $2,154,113 (48,517 hands)!

In 2013, he was up over 5 million dollars during 3 incredible winning streaks. It will be interesting to see if he can beat that "record" this year - without losing most of it (he "only" bagged up a $542k profit in 2013 after a massive downswing that started in October).

Durrrr Challenge Returns in August

Tags: daniel cates, durrrr challenge, full tilt poker, high stakes, jungleman12, tom dwan
Posted on 01 August 2013 by "T".

Just about three years ago, Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Daniel "jungleman12" Cates agreed to play 50,000 hands as a part of a heads-up challenge at Full Tilt Poker. The rules were that Dwan would get $500,000 from Cates if he won the challenge, and Cates would get $1,500,000 from Dwan if he won. Now, as you probably already know, the two pros have only played about 19,000 hands and it seems like a lifetime ago when they played last.

Now the good news... according to a forum post by Daniel Cates, the challenge is set to resume in August. Cates wrote that he and Dwan have agreed to play a minimum of 4,000 hands in August and a minimum of 8,000 hands the followings months until the challenge is completed.

Cates is currently holding the lead with a $1,251,059 profit after 19,335 played hands. Besides that, he's been running very good at Full Tilt Poker as of late, so you can't blame him for wanting to complete the challenge and, most probably, get $1.5 million from Tom Dwan.

Tags: full tilt poker, gus hansen, Hac Dang, high stakes, isildur1, viktor blom
Posted on 07 June 2013 by "T".

It's been quiet from Viktor "Isildur1" Blom since he took down the SCOOP 2013 Main Event in the end of May. The main reason for that is that he hasn't won nor lost any significant amounts at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables. Well, that was until yesterday when he took on Gus Hansen at the 2-7 Triple Draw and the FLO8 tables. They started the session at the 2-7 Triple Draw tables and "The Great Dane" took the young Swede for about $100k until things took a big turn...

DOJ: "The victim claims process will begin shortly."

Posted on 14 March 2013 by "T".

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has now hired a Claims Administrator, Garden City Group, and claims that U.S. players soon will be able to make claims. According to one news site, about 1.3 million players are still waiting for their money since Black Friday (April 15, 2011) and the amount owed is about $159,000,000.

PokerStars purchased Full Tilt Poker for more than $730 million in July 2012 - the amount included money for the DOJ to repay U.S. players. Three former Full Tilt Poker managers/owners have settled their civil cases with the government since then: Rafe Furst, Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson. Former CEO Ray Bitar still faces several charges and might spend the rest of his life in prison.
