Andy Hwang Wins WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open ($730,053)

It's been a very action-packed weekend in the poker world. Besides the Aussie Million Main Event final table, the World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Poker Open concluded with Andy Hwang taking home the top prize and a spot in the WPT Champions Cup. The 27-year-old poker pro from Houston, Texas, outlasted a record-field of 1,042 players and now has $977,152 in live tournament earnings.

Matthew Salsberg to create a tv-series about poker

matthewsalsbergHollywood writer and producer Matthew Salsberg who is known for his work on some very successful tv series like Weeds and Entourage, has recently announced that he is working on a new tv series project that will be set in the international poker circuit.

During an interview with Giovanni Angioni at the EPT San Remo, Salsberg unfolded the project that combines his two passions in life - writing and poker:
"...But right now I have a show in development that I’m working on and it’s about poker players so there is probably a mix of fifty people in the room that I could potentially put there".

Salsberg was later asked for more details on his upcoming tv project:
"It’s about guys in their twenties that travel the circuit playing poker. It’s going to be a comedy but sort of a pretty realistic one. Reasonably realistic, let’s say".

Weeds Producer Matthew Salsberg Wins WPT Grand Prix de Paris

In case you didn't read our WPT Grand Prix de Paris updates last week, Philipp Gruissem finished both Day 2 and Day 3 with the largest pile of chips, and he had about 3 times the average stack and $100k more than his closest opponent Matthew Salsberg when Day 4 kicked off with 24 remaining players.
