Today Scandinavia's most prestigious poker tournament starts, the 2012 European Poker Tour in Copenhagen, Denmark. Well, some satellites to the Main Event and other events started already yesterday. But that doesn't really count, right? :)

Day 1a of the Main Event kicks off in a few hours and the buy-in is 35,000 Danish Crowns (about €4.7k euro) - same buy-in as last year when the Main Event saw a field of 423 players and Michael Tureniec from Sweden defeated fellow countryman Per Linde heads-up.

EPT Copenhagen will hopefully see an even greater felt of players this year. And hopefully even more notables will show up for the Main Event and the High Roller than last year. We will keep you updated on these 2 events, so don't forget to check our news every day.

Not less than 3 Swedish poker players, Michael Tureniec, Nikolas Liakos & Per Linde, made it to the final table of the EPT Copenhagen Main Event. After many hours of poker, Linde and Tureniec were the last 2 men standing. Then it took almost 3,5 hours before Tureniec managed to defeat his fellow countryman.

Michael Tureniec received nothing less than 3,700,000 DKK or about 496,000 EURO for the win. This is the second biggest win in his poker career ($961,902 - 2008 EPT London).

The 2011 EPT Copenhagen Main Event is down to 24 players and now it starts getting really exciting! Yesterday, Michael Tureniec from Sweden was in the lead. Now, another Swede has overtaken the lead! Per Linde (picture) has accumulated 1,622,000 chips and he will for sure make it to the final table with a healthy stack if he continues like this.

In second place is Florian Langmann from Germany with 1,304,000 chips, followed by the Swedes Joel Nordkvist and Michael Tureniec. In fact, the most of the remaining players are from the Nordic countries. Well, maybe that something one should expect from a tournament held in Denmark? :)

Another day of the Main Event is now in the books. 262 players have become 73 and the final table, where lots of cash is up for grabs, is not far away! In the lead is Michael Tureniec from Sweden (picture), followed by another 2 Swedes - Per Linde and Joel Nordqvist.

Day 2 of the EPT Copenhagen Main Event was, as you probably already figured out, dominated by the Swedish poker players. There are a few big names who will return to play Day 3 of the tournament. For example, JP Kelly in 4th place, and further down in the felt are Johnny Lodden and Juha Helppi.
