A catholic priest in southern Ontario is in the hot seat as Canadian Police launched an investigation over his alleged gambling away nearly $380,000 dollars that have been allocated for refugees. Father Amer Saka told Bishop Emanuel Shaleta that a significant amount of money earmarked for refugees had disappeared. The bishop asked the priest how to which the priest said, "Gambling."

Priest Stole $240,000 For Gambling

On Wednesday, a Roman Catholic priest was placed on five years' probation and ordered to repay around $240,000 that he had stolen from his former workplace to fuel a gambling addiction. Rev. Stephen M. Gemme, 45, the former pastor of St. Bernadette Parish in Northboro, stole the money from the church and its school over a five-year span.

Priest won $100,000 in PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge

When Full Tilt poker announced their new televised poker show "Face the Ace", PokerStars followed and created their very own show called "PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge". In PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge anyone playing at PokerStars has the chance to win a seat online and then play against PokerStars biggest pros heads-up for lots of money.


First out in PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge was father Andrew Trapp. Andrew received $25,000 after that he won against both the NBA player John Salley and the PokerStars pro Vanessa Rousso. After those 2 victories he risked all the money he had won to play against Daniel Negreanu for the first prize of $100,000. And believe it or not! The priest had the poker gods with him as he managed to win over Negreanu as well.
