WPT Vienna: Another big win for Denmark!

After 6 days of pulsating poker, the World Poker Tour Vienna Main Event finally got a winner, Morten Christensen (online qualifier) from Denmark. For the win he was awarded with €313,390 and a seat in the WPT final.

Christensen is the 4th Dane, in just a few short months, to take down a major European title this year, following in the footsteps of Frederik Jensen (EPT Madrid), Mickey Petersen (EPT Copenhagen) and most recent winner Jannick Wrang (EPT Campione)

When it come to PokerStars European Poker Tour, Danish players have been doing extremely well lately. Frederik Jensen, Mickey Petersen and Jannick Wrang have all won the main event in the past months, so it might not come as surprise to anyone that the chip leader of the World Poker Tour Vienna main event is also Danish.

Dmitry Gromov won WPT Vienna (€447,840)

Dmitry Gromov and Maxim Kolosov, both from Russia, survived a 555-player field and ended up playing heads-up on the final table. The match only lasted 5 hands before both players pushed their stacks into the centre of the table (pre-flop) - Gromov with A[s]10[h] and Kolosov with 8[c]8[d]. Gromov flopped a 10 and the turn and river cards were to no help for Kolosov. For the win Dmitry Gromov received the first place prize of €447,840 and a seat in the WPT final. The runner-up, Maxim Kolosov, got €241,180.
