 | Overview |
Carbon Poker was launched in February 2007. It was actually established in 2005 but launched as a new poker brand in 2007, and it is powered by the Merge Gaming Network. It was originally established around the previous player base of Poker.com. Carbon Poker operates under a gaming license from the Lotteries and Gaming Authority of Malta and the Kahnawake Gaming Commission in Canada.
The games offered at Carbon Poker are absolutely on the loose side, with many new players taking their first try at online poker. Carbon Poker has been relatively growing because of its great diversity of games, fast and reliable software, remarkable multi-table-tournament leader board program, several live event satellites with smaller fields, a variety of deposit and withdrawal options and graphics that are superior and top of the industry.
Because US players are welcome here, no wonder there is already a good player volume initially on Carbon Poker and it is gradually increasing day by day.
|
| |
 | Software |
Carbon Poker is utilizing the perfected software of the Poker.com Network. It is usually unknown to the average poker player, but in spite of its lack of status, this poker room is indeed based on the highest class of software you can imagine. It uses Macromedia Flash which allows you to still have a quality image even when resizing down your table screen. Even though the table itself is not as customizable as some other sites, there are still many features at Carbon Poker that are good. You can even play for eight tables at once when preferring to play multiple tables.
One of the highlights of this poker site is its poker client. The images are vector based and this result in clear graphics even when playing multiple tables with minimized windows. Carbon Poker’s statistics functions are good and satisfactory. Being unable to export hand histories to the hard disk may prove disagreeable to some players, but the replay feature makes up for it, so you will have no problem examining your played hands.
There are many unique features of Carbon Poker’s software that are not seen in any poker room. Some features are: The Rabbit Hunt (this reveals what cards would have come out if everyone did not fold), Accolades and Trophies (Carbon Poker will place a special trophy on your player accolade for everyone to see whenever you win a special tournament), Expose 1 Card (you have the choice of only showing 1 hole card when you fold), and Poker Expressions (you can have an option of a donkey animation appearing on the table by just typing “donkey” into the chat box).
|
| |
 | Traffic |
|
Carbon Poker has a large player base which constantly grows because of the awesome options and promotions they offer to both new and frequent players. Because of the growing fame of the whole Merge Gaming Network, the presence of active poker players is growing day by day. Real money player stats as of January 2009 up to March 2009 have shown that there are up to 1,200 ring game players and up to 8,000 tournament players during peak hours. Most of the traffic is held in Texas Hold ‘Em but Omaha and other games are getting fully crowded at times too. A large number of players usually play ring games, although the constant freerolls do entice a lot of new and frequent players to the tournament events as well.
|
| |
 | Opponents |
|
The competition at Carbon Poker is usually very soft. Always present at the freerolls are typically the poker beginners and small-stacked players and then in the end they attend the poker tables and lose cash. The average flop percentages are generally 10% higher than most sites. The players at Carbon Poker are easy to beat. You can win a lot of money with a straightforward strategy. If you are looking for fish, go to the low and micro limit stakes even though you can still find very loose games at the higher levels as well.
|
| |
 | Tournaments |
|
Carbon Poker offers tournaments with guaranteed cash prizes varying up to a few thousand dollars. There are lots of MTTs and Sit-N-Go’s, live event satellites with smaller fields, giveaways, many special tournament events, and a lot of profitable and exciting freerolls that will surely make your poker play at Carbon Poker enjoyable. Carbon Poker offers many daily guaranteed tournaments. The prize pools go up to $15,000
|
| |
 | Cashgames |
Carbon Poker is perhaps the best poker room when it comes to a variety of games. Offered games at Carbon Poker are the Texas Hold ‘Em (Limit, Pot and No-Limit), Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo (Limit, Pot and No-Limit), Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo, Five Card Stud, Five Card Draw, Triple Draw (A-5 Lowball and 2-7 Lowball) and Badugi (a variety of Chinese poker). H.O.R.S.E., Blackjack, Razz, Video Poker, Roulette and Backgammon are also available if you get tired from the other poker games.
Even with a vast selection of games, most of the action is still found in the No-Limit Hold ‘Em games and mostly at the lower limits.
|
| |
 | Bonuses/Loyalty |
|
Carbon Poker offers a very nice VIP/loyalty program. It's a tier based loyalty scheme, having five different tiers; Earth, Wind, Fire, Water and Ether. As a loyalty player you can enjoy many special treats such as having a VIP Host, receiving Birthday Gifts and special Bonus Offers. Depending on which tier you belong to, the cashback (rakeback) and point conversion will differ. Carbon poker is one of Merge network skin. relieable, userfriendly software, exciting actions with US players. I especially love to play their guaranteed rebuy/addon tournament like $3000, $5000. So often held, fun actions, not so many players. That's exciting games and you would have a nice chance to make a good ammount of money. If you look their tourney tab carefully, you will find nice chances to join the tourney of which the participation fees are not over the total guaranteed prize amount. Enjoy EV+ games!

Carbon Poker is the new version of the Old Poker, Merge Gaming Network. Carbon Poker offers a stable, highly functional software platform with a full range of poker games. The graphics are nice while the Lobby is easy for even the newbie to navigate. Carbon Poker is well suited for multi-tabling, as a new online poker room, the player traffic is small, but the Merge Gaming Network’s shared player base, combined with US poker players.A very popular $20k tournament runs every Sunday with a buy-in of $60. Deposits/Withdrawals (minimum $10): Credit Card, NETeller, Click2Pay, EcoCard, Fonelinx, Moneybookers, eWalletXpress and Pindebit.(minimum $25): NETeller, Click2Pay, EcoCard, Moneybookers, eWalletXpress, Pindebit and Check. Carbon Poker has a good and steady platform.

I dont like it, to be honest, i find it may be a little untrustworthy for new players, you have this very sofisticated players which plays with pot odds and practical math everywere, and for some people that might be a little bit disturbing, i mean, i dont like playing that much with maths because im not as good as Daniel Negreanu or those which act by math and instincts, but i do manage and i made earnings with poker luckiily, you should starty in a more frendlier site and then move onto carbon poker

Carbon poker is a really good place to begin a poker career, with LOADS of fish but a few really good players also. Carbon poker is part of the merge gaming network of poker sites, and in a way is similar to titan poker on the i poker network, but with better freerolls. It has a wide variety of limits with alot of microstakes table if you havent got a big bankroll. Carbon poker is also one of the only site i know of with a rabbit option. A rabbit option is if a hand is folded, select this option and you can still see what comes down

So far so good at Carbon. I'm up a few bucks and they currently have an insanely good instadebit offer for all those Canadains out there. They have DoN's that have good traffic, I haven't had to wait more than 2 minutes to have a screen full of games going at the $5 stake level. As for competition, it's the usual mix. Some regulars, some fish, and some average joe's but if I had to compare I'd say the DoN's on the iPoker Network are looser and easier to place in. Also they have a neat promo on right now: If you rake $25 in a week (easy to do) you get into a $10900 value freeroll with about 1500 entrants, win!

Carbon poker is the best site from the merge network if you ask me, plus it's one of the few places where we can still play with players from united states. The promotions on the site are pretty good but i must admit there were better when they had the option to get a rakeback deal, nowadays they have a vip system for the players. As for the traffic is pretty good and it has covered the majority of stakes starting with 1/2 cents so it's accesible to everyone for that matter. My only complain is the software, it could be a bit better but it works and that counts the most

i heard a few years ago for Carbon poker and at this time i was thinking that it is a good poker room. unfortunately, from then they didnt make some improvement, and now are average poker room or below average for experience users. Software is good, but not the best. easy to use, and found what you want. They accept USA players, and have good number of players, but must attract much more. Dont have no deposit offer or deposit bonuses. Rakeback is solid. They have a lot of tournaments. With some improvements and updates, they can be a very good poker room

Okay so, so far I have reviewed FTP, Stars, UB, and AP, is now time to review Carbon Poker. Again I would perfer FTP or Stars and maybe AP here but Carbon Poker is pretty good. The layout is decent and passable with a pretty normal look, way better than UB IMO. Only fallback here? I think the tournaments and SNGs suck. I mean I would play a tournament from here time to time but not on a regular basis. The Cash Games here are pretty good including PLO, and last thing that have Shannon Elizabeth as a sponsored pro, so that a 10 in my book.
Software: 8.5 Layout: 7 Cash Games: 8 SNGs: 4 Tournaments: 4.5 Support: 9 Promotions and Bonuses: 10

This site is not even in my top 20.. It does allow US players but bonus's are bad, players are rare and tournaments of quality suck. Satilites suck and there is not incentive for staying and playing for any long time frame. What this site needs is more affiliation with big events for live entries. If you like low stakes and slow action this is for you, but it is the hardest US site to get started on. and even if you do why would you stay? Are there points to keep you going, not a good enough structure to maintain a good relationship with them
Software: 5 / 10 Opponents: 5 / 10 Tournament: 4/10 Cashgames: 6 / 10 Bonuses / Loyalty: 1 / 10 Transactions: 1 / 10 Support: 3 / 10

I wasn't making any deposit on this site but I won freeroll there and had some money to test it. Software is interesting, you can choose youre own image and smilies are entertaining!!! They have nice freerolls and they have 4 first deposit tournaments. Also they have some nice microstake tournaments like bounty etc. BUT, when I wanted to deposit and enter their bonus code there was error. When I asked them why I have error they told me that my country cant use that bonus code??!!! That is not fair. Money from my country have less value then money from other countries? That is just bad. So I wasnt deposit and that was bad business for them...

Carbon Poker is a part of the merge poker network, and it unfortunately doesn't have very much traffic. I'd not recommend it, if you only play MTT sngs, though. They take way too long to fill up, but if you're just looking to play cash games, then it's definitely an ok choice, considering they have rakeback, which is paid daily. The software is a bit ugly, but that shouldn't matter much. Poker is about winning money, not about playing on a room that looks good. If you start with $0, it's definitely a good place to play freerolls, considering the little amount of people registering!
Overall I will give it 7/10.

good place to play, freerolls with fewer players and a simple lobby compared to other sites. the only thing worst is little traffic compared to other sites like fulltilt or PS. But it is a good option to take the initial $ 35.

Carbon Poker is the biggest room of the Merge Poker network. So most what is written about Big Bet Poker describes the games at Carbon Poker too. Software is a bit on the slow side, but gets the job done. Traffic is a bit low on all but the Hold'em games. The clientsoftware offers mini tables. So players, who like to play a lot of tables at one time, can put a lot of tables on their screen. The Merge network was among the first to offer the Badugi form of poker. A lot of the players there come from the US, so peak hours are during night time in europe.
