guys don't know about you but my game goes to hell when the mrs is bitching, the kids are fighting or the phone never stops it monotonous tone, so to counteract this i created some playlists on wmp stuck some headphones on & presto so far my game has become a lot more stable. it's working for me ( at the moment ). i can deal with the bitching later

where did i say that LIFE was distracting my poker game? i said the the mrs bitchin ,kids fighting,phone ringing. i can and do make time for my family & life but these things happen every day.( you will eventually appreciate this ) specific events whilst trying to play poker! so as a 20 year old until you have a wife and children ( i am guessing by your comment that you do not at present ) that affect your concentration keep that thought in mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so you are trying to say these do not affect your game in any way? in which case i have to say you are talking bs the thread was intended to talk about what distracts you whilst playing poker! but hey who am i to contradict a 20 year old that probably spends all his time in his bedroom playing with the pc

i agree a small distraction can ruin your game and 1 bad call at that time can spoil your tournament. i usually play some music but using headphones is a nice idea

i got a own room when i play with all what a need,eating,drinking and so on and i disable the chat on every site when i will talking when i play i go to a casino

Maybe it's me being an inexperienced poker-player, or maybe I just don't love the game enough, but I get bored easily when playing, and I create my own distractions... the Tv, the phone, MSN-chats, even the BankrollMob-forum. I know, I'm an idiot. My biggest problem at the time though, is a wa-ay too sensitive mouse-pad-thingy on my laptop. I go to move the cursor to "fold", and ding! I've called a bet or even an all-in... I know, my computer is an idiot too.

Gotta love distractions. Nothing worse when playing and having to click sit out, then try to hurry up and playout the rest of your hands asap the best you can. But that happens and now I just figure it's part of my game. Talking/chatting doesn't bother me so much, but I usually don't chat with the other players.

I can relate to this When all the kids are in bed and the wife is quiet watching the television or out doing girly things my game is defo better. When the ancle bitters are running about giving eachother hell then i'm easyly distracted and not enjoying my game. If the door bell go's and i have to answer it that grinds me aswell. hehe Prime example was last week when the phone rang the kids were in bed but the misses was in the garden i answered it , it was the mother in law so then i had to go in the garden to tell the wife she's wanted on the phone. got back to my poker and heard the wife telling the mother in law that I would come and pick her up from work as it was cold and wet.......(I'M PLAYING POKER) What a fucking cheek.
