This last decade, there has been a lot of talk about how women are more intelingent than men, how a woman president would do the world some good, and that a woman can do any job a man can, and the only difference between the 2 in general is the physical strength.
So I ask you this, in poker, which is a mental, psychological game, are women better than men, the other way around, the same?
not trying to be sexist but i do believe that men *tend* to be better at the maths side of it. but there is a lot more to poker than odds and anyone with any determination can pick it up easily, or even just use a software tool to help

Women have the upper advantage I believe. ( Note: I'm a women.) But dont usually have the exp a man has at poker. I also think when were in a live game men will go easier on us. But online its everone for themself

When it comes to better and evolved poker skills I have to say that men hold an incredible advantage. Please ladies, this male advantage over women does not exclude a women´s potential and capabilities, this advantage has a life of it´s own, a history, and sure does stand alone. It has been standing for decades. While women were still seen and treated as housewives, living a pretty basic routine, men were in bars, clubs, and everyplace they could find a game. They were developing, practicing, experimenting all sorts of poker techniques. This advantage was passed on from generation to generation, each decade gaining more confidence and style. Men perfected the art of taking money from their own pocket and throwing it at a table. Men perfected money handling while women were doing manicures and pedicures. This all adds up in the male colective unconscious. This is the advantage that every man brings to the poker table when facing any woman on this planet.
So it´s not about 1 especific player, nor one fenomenal woman, it´s the male past that is determining this present poker scene. Until women go through something similar, they will always be behind the men in this sport. So, it has nothing to do with intelligence, but roots. Men are better not because they are more intelligent, but because they´re roots in poker are deeper.
Wow, I´ve said too much, hope I didn´t offend anyone, and I hope the ladies will understand this point of view!

see fodz i dont really agree with that 100% because just because its in males "past" doesnt mean that all males no how to do play and are good at it.. like theres tons of guys there that dont even know the rules.. and im sure there were tons of grandfathers teachin their granddaughter how to play or the girls saw older people playing and starting playin...
but sure men more but doesnt mean the whole male species is gonna be good at poker.. thats y theres fish and men who dont play... that jus mean that certian line or family of males would be stronger..
its hard to place once gender over another... and anything really not jus poker

I understand and agree with you, but my point is that all males have a "psychological" advantage or "mystery mask" when they come to any table. An unknown man sits down to play, anything goes, "where did he come from?" "he must be a devil", "does he make a living off of this."
But a woman sits down and the first thing that comes to mind is none of the above, there´s no intimidation factor. I´m not saying that women have no skills, they do, but the extra intimidation factor is inexistent.

see thats another place i would agree with you.. ur sittin at a final table.. wiatin for ur opponents and all of a sudden a girl walks up... what the hell? where did she come from.... so you could be intimidate.. or even worse..
ohhh shes a girl... she doesnt no how to play... watch me out play her.. (which right there throws you off ur regular game and are thinkin about bettin her to much).... so you make dumb raises thinking she will back off... (lol happend to me with my gf... she beat me 2ce heads up cuz of that)
and back to that "psychological" advantage.. lol tahts a WHOLE womans life is messing with guys heads and just doing just that... lol messing with us with their mind games so

Woman are more patiente then man... Thats a very good thing in poker in my opnion, and men in math, thats always true, but its kinda a rule

yea thats another point good one koza... women overall are much more patient and able to keep their cool and not let the best of things impare their judgement and ability... it would take alot more to get a female to tilt and when she does.. lol thats when the mind games really start to happen lol

HAHAH you must be joking right have u ever seen the level of play at the womens only wpt ? it is a whole aquarium with 2 good players.

Well in this case its pretty much man >women since the girls are more sensitive and they are showing their feeling pretty much but in pro level i saw some rly good girls and one of the best cash tables pro is women !

oh yea theres no doubt thats theres more greater male players than female but thats only because more males that play... but usually if there is a female player they are pretty good..

Yeah thats is the point. There r much more guys playing, so.... the probability to have more male professional players is much higher More Outs

Wow, this thread is getting a bit "hot", anyways I believe men has the better advantage, why? simply because women tend to lose concentration easier when being provoked or something like that. Then easily lose their calm and therefore more susceptible to mistakes

Mb its just becouse more guys playing poker so we dont see girls that much winning smth
but in pro level i saw some rly good girls and one of the best cash tables pro is women !
