No I agree that sometimes you need to gamble. You were obviously unhappy playing with that stack so it makes sense. In your current position you didn't feel you could get much further and you figured if I want first place I need to gamble now. I think it was the right decision for you at the time. My point was simply from a logic/mathematical prospective and also that the two reasons you gave before don't justify your move. I apologise for saying you were on tilt if you weren't; I got this idea from: 'I was short stacked due to a couple of maniacs at my table throughout the proceedings.'

math is idiotic Smile and I'm decent enough to not go on tilt when I have to deal with maniacs Blink

Before seeing the how the over.

Tough decision but if I want to go for the big prizes (top 3) I would call. If you were happy with the prize for 8th place or want to cash 7th or 6th I think you should fold, but otherwise you must call. I think you will play a coin flip, but due to your situation the coin flio is good for you with JJ.

After seeing how the hand over.

Well I didn't guess what he had, thought he would have AQo+, but Congratz for the call and of course for winning the tournament.

Gl.

I'm glad that you won this tourney but the fact that this hand was so perfect for you doesn't change what the correct play was. I understand why you made your decision but basically you were on tilt. You weren't happy being low stack and you didn't feel confident enough playing on from there so you decided to gamble. This is fine as you understood that if this gamble payed off you could play the tourney from here on well and after one gamble you obviously played well as you won.

However your two reasons are flawed. The fact that you could win and be in the same position is not an advantage cos this will mean you will have to gamble again. If you want to gamble you should try and get in the all or nothing position where your either out or getting a decent stack. You don't want to have to gamble for several hands.

And the second reason is flawed because villain 2 is not going to just call with better hands than JJ. If he has QQ he doesn't want to see a flop in this position. He has to go all in even with AA otherwise he might appear stronger. The pot is a third of his stack. He should never just call.

hmmm, although I kinda understand your logic I can't protest enough about being me being on tilt, as I wasn't in the slightest. The fact of the matter is, one more round after this hand and I would need to be pushing with anything having just over 10bb's so, this was the ideal spot I trusted my read by the play in front of me, went with it and near on trippled up.

I don't always play this hand in this way, I would normally fold but, it just felt right this time and it was nice to see it worked out. This was more to prove that in these tourneys, your decisions aren't always as ABC as a lot play them.

That's why they call it gambling. Kudos to your victory! I posted a similar thread a while back similar to your situation. I was forced w/a decision for all my chips, on the flop, though... for a much bigger pot. It was a donk call but I made it and won. I caught a river J Club for a royal, took down a $50K+ pot that TOOK me to the final table. LOL! But isn't that why we love the game? For moments like this? Who fucking ever goes, "Yeah man, so I made straight A's n B's, went right to college, got my degree, then started at a firm for 45k, met me wife, she met me Mum, we got married, had 2.4 kids, I drive a..." OH SHUT THE F**K UP! We know how it's going to end, you get everything your mummy and popsy said you would if you worked real hard and eat your veggies and do your chores and blah, blah, blah... how boring, take a fuckin' chance, now and then. It's like in the movie "The Breakfast Club", when Molly Ringwald's character, Claire, asks Judd Nelson's, John, when they were sneaking around in the school-halls instead of being in detention... she asks, "So, how do you know where Vernon is?" He replies, "I don't", she then asks, "So how do you know when he'll come back?" He says, " I don't" And as they continue to walk on he adds, "Being bad feels pretty good... eh?" Thumbs Up Evil

Jacks are sketchy cards to play, especially if you are being forced to bet. I might pay a little to see the flop, but fold if I don't hit my trips.

LOL Jewcifer I just watched the Breakfast Club the other day. I like the part when John is getting bitched out by Vernon for pulling the fire alarm. "What if your dope was on fire?? That's impossible sir, it's in Johnson's underwear." I love that part Thumbs Up

HAHA! Of course I do, man. You know John Hughes passed away a month or so ago? He was a keeper. Did you also know he co-wrote National Lampoon's Animal House? Yep, he was in on that one, too. The scene w/Donald Sutherland, when they go to his place and he asks them if they would like to smoke some pot? Worship Yeah, I've finished up another "bonus" and am ready for the BBP ndb, but I haven't heard chit. Oh well. So you like comedies? Right, who doesn't... LOL! The Python flix rule! I was watching the Life of Brian, again the other night, I wound up crying... per usual. Man, that's a funny fucking movie. "No, a RRROOman..." SMACK! Evil

Probably I'm the only donkey here; everyone says to fold but in a final table I begin more and more aggressive and, as for me, JJ is a very good starting hand.

No.
JJ is the 4th best starting hand. Shorty will push a very wide range. So it is all down to how tight/loose the CO will push here.

Well, in my opinion it depends on several factors including your reads on the opponents and the goal you'd like to achieve. If you want to simply win the tournament because final table simply isn't good enough for you, then you probably should play aggressively, which means a push. Smile

Well, I mainly play SnGs and cash games, not MTTs but I would definitely push. Agree

is a difficult situation, but I think I would do push.
With only 12 BB and JJ in the hands, I think it is a bad decición. but depending on the reading we do in some cases could fold.

You cant fold jacks with 12 BBs, well i couldnt anyway. doesnt really make any sense

I said i would fold. Because i hate JJ and fold it almost always to a raise + re raise.

Its a tough situation. But I would choose to be nitty and fold here because the all in raiser has already been called.
