Read through this old post and refreshed my memory on the Mobsters whom I no longer see visit the forum. There are a few that still visit, but so many that do not. I'm sure that's how it goes. Mobsters come and go for the most part other then a few.
The thread is really good for a beginner, but as mahdrof stated a lot of the terminology is hard for a beginner to understand. I mean, I still don't play position well nor do I fully understand pot values. I really need to get another book to read about a lot of things since I've stuck to playing poker for a couple years.
Posted by Peremoha: There are many books, sites, video, some chats with professionals but still there are players that mostly win and those that mostly lose. Why is that?
Even skilled poker players make mistakes outside the game that have effects on their game. Thngs like picking the wrong game to play, playing too long or poor bankroll management.
at the start of a MTT i would say to my self i have to get of to a good start. i would then take stupid risk like allin on the first hand. now i have realized MTT are like a long race if you crash near the start you cant win. you have to get to the end to win
Posted by MenaceMonday: Have been playing the game for a little while now, like 3-4 years. And I still bluff too often (especially against people that seem bad to me).
A player has to reach the level of thinking "What so I think they have/" before bluffing works. Bad players never think that so trying to bluff them is a waste of time.

Most of the time I start pretty carefully and I wait for the right moment.. But when an opponent takes away a lot of your credit, I sometimes get angry and try to compensate my losses. :-s

their afraid, they fold when it's a small bet , but their afraid to loose their money, especally when you have a couple of raisers at the table that raise every pot, again they start getting afraid, thats why I say if your afraid to loose your money DON'T PLAY POKER.

I think the worst of all is, once you already learned all this rules, and keep playing like before, making the same mistakes. Some times I still call only cos I have a "lucky" hand
