Ooops wrong tourney....  0
Last night chillin in the couch, watching a lame tv show, I was looking to play a little tournament for a change. Then I saw a very interesting tour $6000 GT with $11 buy in and 243 players regged starting in 57sec..56..55 nice overlay I snap reg. Afterwards I find out i's rebuy and it's speed Aww crap!
Could it get any worse MTT, speed, rebuy, 10 seater OMFG and I couldn't deregister because I was a late registrant Aww crap!

Ok whatever I might as well crush the fools now that im here Tongue Big Smile

Std crazy first 1h guy on my right rebought 10-12 times Smile sadly I wasn't the one taking his chips. I didn't rebuy just played nitty grind. Doubled up on KK and got well above average but noone was safe with this structure noone had over 20BB's. Break and I do a meaningless add on. Stole a bit to keep alive and finally got some good hands and suddenly buble burst and im 4th of 30 players left.

AKs loses to 88 which takes allmost 1/2 stack
ATs loses to K9o and mobster is out in 15th and wins $120

Def not a tour I will play again but im happy I made a coin from it Smile

I've done exactly the same thing but at smaller stakes on a site where my bankroll is pretty low. The gtd amount sucked me in and then it turns out to be a rebuy, the gtd amount is passed very quickly and to make matters worse the tourney fee is a very high 20%.

I'm always looking out for these gtd tourneys but it's very rare that the buy-ins with the fee included don't amount to the prize pool. The sites always seem to know exactly how many ppl will buy in before reg opens. The best you can hope for most of the time is a very low fee.

GTD rebuy tourneys w/ added prize pool are prob my favourite MTT to play, the first hour is usually super wreckless, so building a monster stack is pretty straight forward, unless u get sucked out on, in which case you rebuy & get rebuilding. I was playing one of these the other day, got sucked out 3 times in a row getting in good with KK, QQ, KA, each time getting busted by smaller pairs, this put me on tilt admittedly but i still double rebought maybe 3 mins before the end of the rebuy time, and i had like a quarter of the average stack with about 600 odd ppl remaining, just played super tight from then in, caught Aces, pushed got 4 callers, luckily the held up & that put right above the average, & went on to finish in 16th losing to a bad bad suckout, was happy to get that far regardless Cool

and if it doesn't work for them in 2-3 weeks, that tourney will be gone next time

^ yep. I used to always try and catch them when they hadn't filled up to qoute. Eventually I learn't this just doesn't happen. I see often, with 5min remain there will be only half the amount of the GTD in entries, but in that last 5min the GTD amount will be surpased by 50% or something.

Strange thing is, these MTTs (obv) always fill up, but the 'reg' ones - with no GTD$ (on PKR) are often more like multitable SNGs (10-50 ppl). It's like people think they're getting more value out of GTD$ ones even though they never are. I guess it just ensures many registrations cause everyone jumps on board when it is under the GTD$ amount but hardly anyone reregisters when this amount is passed (i do a bit lol - if Im only looking for value)

You gotta use your filters!

If you hide the r/a's you won't have this issue again.

Nice save and profit though. 10x$$$ is the kind of mistake I'd like to be making too. Tongue

MTT stands for multi-table tournament so tourneys that have lots of players. Surely these terms are pretty obvious but speed means that the blinds increase quickly, meaning ppl have to push hands sooner and the tourneys don't last as long. Rebuy means that if you get knocked out you can buy some more chips and keep playing. This seems to give lots of ppl a license to go all in with any rubbish hand and then just buy in again when/if they lose.

Back to the gtd tourneys subject, if only everyone could agree not to buy in after 60% of the gtd prize has been met. Then we'd all have better odds at the poker site's expense. Have you ever found yourself registered for a gtd tourney and cursing every selfish git that buys in after you. Well a lot of time that git might be me as I always wait til the last minute.

Thats a nice ROI. Maybe you should consider playing in more MTTs in the future. More misclicks and run goods and you'll be well on your way Big Smile

Ty guys it was a lucky punch with this lotto structure though I actually thought for a while that I would place top 5. I will start giving these small tours a shot and keep you posted Smile
