Question about Full Tilt Poker Academy Challange   0
I play at Full Tilt and also do the Poker Academy Challanges to earn some extra FTP. Now I am at a challange called "Betting Basics" and I have a question about one task there.

At an 8 or 9-handed table, open raise exactly 3 times the big blind pre-flop with AK, AQ, or a pair 99 or higher from middle or late position.
Details:
* All play must come in a real money NL Hold’em cash game, MTT or a S&G that started with 9 players or more.
* Hole cards must be (AK, AQ, AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT, or 99).
* Table must have 8 or 9 players dealt into the hand.
* Action must be folded to you pre-flop (no limpers or raisers).
* Must raise exactly 3 times the big blind as your first action.
* Must be seated in one of the following seats: the button, button-1, button-2, or button-3.

My question now is, if the BB is 20 do I have to raise to 80 (BB+3xBB), which would be my standard raise, or to complete the challange should I raise to 60 (3xBB) which seems to be a bit low for my taste.

Anyone who has knowledge about this Challenge could maybe answer?
And what do you think which Raise is more clever, the BB+3xBB or just 3xBB?

like they say 3xbb so u have to make it 60 if the bb is 20

that is if u wanna complete the challenge in other any other case just do as u please and look which one suits u better

What is the question here?

If it's SSS, 4xBB + 1BB per player that have already called. That's what I've learned in the articles at P***********y.com

I don t understand the doutb nor either the result on the poll Confused Of course it s 3bb standard raise meaning if blinds are 20/40 u should raise to 120 ...

3xBB +1BB per limper is pretty standard, although at the micro's i usually raise 4BB's+1 p/l, just because ppl usually play so loose over there & playing a big hand against 4 or 5 callers isn't too good of an idea & it helps minimize the competition thus less bad beats/suckouts.

Wow this poll is really 50-50???. I think some people have serious reading problems. (I hope not me haha). Well I agree with Lutenatik. If you want to complete the challgene you should bet 3BB. However if you play at microlimits I would follow masterKush recommendation unless the tahbe be too tight (let's say less than 15% player pre-flop average).

go with Pothead2012's answer, 3 BB to 60 to complete the challenge. If u really want to be absolutely sure, than that question can be directed to custumer support. Should get a reply within the hour

if u r not comfortable with 3bb raise and feel its spoiling your game, then don't do 3 bb raise. winning $$ is more important than completing challenge, so don't get distracted by challenge

situational and generally personal preference.

I prefer 3x Smile

3x+bb if its on lower limits. On higher i dont know, never tried ^^ maybe its enough with 3bb there Big Smile

every one has given there answers and im sure you'll see the results of the poll....
I've been tought to 4bet the blinds so i'm sure the answer you are looking for will be BB + 3BB = 4BB
have you got fare to go in the challenge?
Are you finding it easy / hard is it inproving your game////?
some have said 4 bets get less action but i find it sooo much easyer to bluff and steal if your betting a constant 4 BB and in the late staqges it suits my style defo when its push or fold haha love that Blink
Personally i wont go as low as 99 I stop at JJ (just a little thing ive found out) well been caught out at anyway my 99 seems to run in to 1010 more often than not lol

like u just said!
alwais depend by >
1. ur table position

3. and more important is anticipate oponent reaction!
personally i should bet max BB for at least a call!

In a situation like the one you described ( cards, position, preflop, players involved ) I'd raise til 80.
( BB+ 3*BB).
But it depends only from the game are you playing on.
In a tournament, expecially at the beginning, I would try to hidden myself to maximize pot.
Near to bubble I would push much more, just to bust short oppo

In Portugal we call it a tri-bet, and you would put 60 chips on the pot. This is the way we do it here. And portguese players away they go in Vilamoura! You have got to try it here. Good poker and good beaches with warm water. Very nice! Urray for Algarve!

Bet and best some more if you ask me.. That's what makes the game interesting. Evil

BB + 3xBB = 4xBB
BB + 2xBB = 3xBB
The poll is wrong cause they are both correct.
However the bet i think should be 3xBB as in bet 60 in this situation.

* Must raise exactly 3 times the big blind as your first action.
1BB is 20, 3X20=60
