Naahhh I prefer him with A-3. If you are holding A4 and your opponet A3 as you said you will not lose almost 80% of the times (30% of the time you will win). If he is also holding A4 you got like 1% chances to win.
If I'm going up and I lose just bad luck. Your preference to me does not make any sense. I don't want to split every pot where I play

don't get why r u pushing with a4 at button, and why is bb calling with a3. and if you don't want him to have a3 why do u want him to have a4 rather than 72 o seems like u don't wanna lose but u neither seem to want to win, in any case if u want a split pot why bother pushing let alone calling.

prob A4 to be honest. ^ A4 hardly dominates A3 about the only board that allows either of these to win (without straights/flushes) is if a 3 or a 4 appears. Basically it's a 50%chance split pot and the other 50% is divided relatively even between each of you winning. I'd rather just split the pot if I'm risking tourney life or something. Ring game/cash game I'd take the A4 vs A3 because its EV+ and over time will payoff. And if you bust you can just reload.

Would you prefer to have a hand you dominate or would you prefer him to have identical to what you've got ?
erm.. NO BRAINER..
More to the point, what kind of donkey idiot shoves with A 4 anyway, and even worse, what kind of donkey idiot is gonna call with A 3 or A 4
Your reading my mind.... But I really don't get how you can even ask a question like this?! If you play poker, you should play for winning money and not going for splitt pots.. makes no sense.

Erm.. IF you have 10 BB and your on the button and it's been folded to you, A4 is the nuts. Not to mention fold equity. The call follows the same premise, you could easily have them beaten given their range.
Pushing with an A-4 any time preflop is reckless maniacal behavior. There are far too many stronger starting hands that will call. The only times that I can understand pushing with that hand is when there is a tilted player at the table or possibly against a LAG who's showing a wide open range of hole cards. Even with those 2 examples pushing is still not recommended.

The question is a little dumb because there is no way you can apply this to a game situation, but I get the point that most seem to be missing. I would assume the OP is referring to a situation where it was justified to go all in with A4, very low stack in a tourney or a tourney where the blinds are generally high for everyone. It is pointless applying the question to ring game because the object here is always to have the best odds. As jessthehuman said ring game is always about ev but tourney players have to take into account survival and pay tables.
So hypothetically if I had already gone in with A4 and I could choose either A4 or A3 to call I would go with A4 as these hands will split unless a two, three or four comes. If your tourney life's on the line surviving is usually more important but then again if I'm big stack and it's +ev to knock this guy out (maybe I pushed to put pressure on the short stack) or if there is a bounty in this tourney, or if I'm short stack and desperately need a double up to make the payouts then I'd maybe go A4 vs A3.
However this is all ridiculous as you can't control what your opponent has, you never get a choice like this in poker and it's a waste of time debating it.
Suond strange to me too to prefer split instead to have a higher hand Maybe I don't understand this strategy, maybe is too complicated for me. Anyway there aren't many situations which I ga all in wiht A4 in
