Play To Your Strength… Know Your Weakness….  0

After aprox 2 hours of play my game will deteriorate and these are some examples of what I get wrong (poor decisions)
1. I play to many hands.
2. I play wrong hands when I'm out of position.
3. I play the right hands the wrong way.
4. I'll over play weak hands.
5. I have been studying my game just lately and I have found that :-

e.g.. I'll gladly play 88 from early position and I'll raise with it!
I'll call with small pocket pairs to a small raise even if there's a few people in the pot!
I'll check raise my trips or check check hoping to induce a bluff instead of betting.
I'll bet with second / third pair if I'm checked to.

I have noticed these things whilst looking back through my history and although I know I have an issue with making poor calls when im tired or have played for a while I've not actually drilled it down to "what I do wrong" rather than just excepting that "I play poor poker after a few hours"

I hope that actually doing this exorcise will help me to :-
A, Recognise the mistakes I'm about to make and avoid making them.
B, Be less readable to others.
C, Play more profitable poker.

Any thought welcome…..

Yes, I do analyse them but only when I feel I have been playing badly due to stress or tilt or too long a session. I have to make it more a habit, though

I analyze my game many times,

but even so, sometimes I keep making the same mistakes,

as always and can not do anything to stop it,

but someday I hope to learn from my mistakes.

Aww crap!

Its important to analyze your game if you want to improve and move up stakes. But i find that having other people analyze your game and talk about poker with you makes you think more outside the usual box you're used to.

I used to have crap BRM but having a friend to give me advice helped a lot. Important to adapt and be able to accept changes, like having people critisize your play and what you do wrong and having you accept their advice, then follow through accordingly Smile

Yeah.. you make these mistakes along with countless others. You're on the right track. Looking back to avoid the same mistakes is smart. You shouldn't have to dig for a hand. It should fall in your lap.. LOL

Good luck on the tables Tongue

I play perfect poker, no need to analyze anything. Big Smile Blink

im advising adderall.
there arent many heads out there who could play their game constantly
for more than two hours.

The "symptoms" you mentioned are standard.

even if you play occasionally, i think you should still analyse your game. programs like pokerstove are great for working out equity against hand ranges, and you can you structured hand analysis as well which will tell you if a move if +EV in the long run. I analyse my game manually, but will soon be getting HEM which will help take some of the weight off Smile

All the time.

All the time, even constantly look back at the hand history to see how a particular player plays a hand and to watch there betting patterns when they are on a draw or have a made hand. Also look back at my hands just to see if others can tell if I am bluffing, on a draw or have a made hand by my betting patterns

its a must to analyze the games you play.
on sng´s i´m using the handhistory to review interesting hands or spot bad/good play and use it for next hands
and using holdem manager for rework the play for a lot of hands and make notes to players in it

I never analyzed my game... maybe it will sound a little stupid...
How can i do it? Aremy hands somehow saved somewhere? Or i need to click somewhere so they would be saved? I never ever thinked about it... would be happy if someone could explain me how etc.

never. i often analyze my play right after a played hand tho...like, did i not bet enough to get him off hand/was it necessary to call or should i have reraise him...things like that.
but never checking handhistory for games i wouldnt remember more. would be too much work if you multitable...prefer to spend the time in poker.

@ZmxPowah...each pokerclient handle it differently. just check out your options, somewhere you will find a option about handhistory and if its enabled or not and where its saved.

I try to analyze my game frequently. I'm usually making the same mistakes which are:
1.playing too many hands
2. playing too many Ax's from utg and early position
3.playing when overtired
4.playing too one dimensionally ( becoming predictable)
All of these, when compounded together, put negative pressure on my bankroll. Some of my most profitable days are weekends after I've had a good rest, while my worst day is usually Thursday.

playing your instinct can be good some times, you just got to know when to switch off. Tongue
