No longer, as most TV programs cover tourneys. In another forum someone puts it this way: "You don't see poker, you see cards being dealt" In tourney poker most hands end at the flop, someone folds or they are all in. And then it is up to the dealer to decide who will win the hand. In cashgames more hands make it to later streets, so more decisions to be made by the players.

Well said. I like to watch the cash games more than tourney coverage lately.

Not really, I liked to watch HSP as it was a cash game, and watching tourneys on TV doesn't get you the full picture; you get to see only the final rounds where everything is push or fold and it's only the excitement of seeing the races

I haven't watched anything in a while but I used to like watching. Big cash game or whatever it was called on channel 5 in the UK was good. I think to be interesting they have to have a high standard of play and show players that the viewers can actually care about. Some players make better viewing than others. These televised EPT and irish open shows can be a little boring, when you don't know about the players before hand and have no idea if they even deserve to be there. The quality of the commentary is also important although I did laugh when Colin Murray (an irish radio presenter) was doing it. He didn't have a clue.

Like it but it has a small problem, you see only selected interesting hands: close calls, huge bluffs, big pots and eliminations situations, so you may not get many usefull info, you may also get a wrong idea about it. Many people think poker is a game of bluffs, allins and action because they saw it on TV, when poker is most a game of patience and value.
So I LOVE TV poker, because it is fun and not as much educational.

Yes I do. For those who, like me, don't have that many channels, I have found an excellent site where you can see almost everything. Since I do not know if I'm allowed to mention the site, let's just say you can google "poker" and it will eventuelly turn up.

I like to watch, but only the ones that are more for pro players. I've been watching Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker. Tourneys are full of amateurs and you learn nothing from them.
I really like High Stacks Poker and Poker After Dark the most. High Stakes is a cash game show, not a tourny so the texture is a lot different than WPT, and Poker After Dark is 6 person SnG type format where winner takes all. Either way, the poker played on these 2 sites are far more realistic to what to expect in the game, while most televised MTT's only show the final table where nearly every hand is a push or fold.
